UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

Some more of the modified EVR - (Drive a Diesel Train Experience, Ecclesbourne Valley Railway)

In Wirksworth this would be the view from the main road. I've added an extra bay at this end. I need to dig the corner of the long building out the bank. The real version used to be a tannery.

I've raised the background to make it look a bit more like north of the border.

The yard will soon have some modern rolling stock.

The real viaduct just carries a lane to a footpath. This one will be a main road to the coast when it's fenced off. The viaduct needs adjustment to make all the arches the same width. It is all separate arches as the spline doesn't work to fit properly.

This village will be a small collection of houses with very little detail added to help with the frames rates.

good to see Nuneaton my local station (its one of the best aspects of this town as it provides a way out of it) :D

Hey Casper, just ordered transDEM after following the recent thread you were posting in. Looking forward to getting some really good routes on the go. Hopefully get the time to make mine look as good as yours do.

Sorry to include two screenshots in a quote, but do you mind me asking where I can get the telegraph poles and wrecked building please? :)

The pole is part of a set from a Hungarian site. Can't remember which, but here is the kuid. It may be on the DLS.

Pole I 6 cross-bar 24 wire (Hungary) KUID:143691:37047

The derelict building is Russian. There are two. The other is burnt-out.

Mostly based on the original station building, out of LBSR parts.

Thanks pfx.

My current route is too far advanced to start again with DEM. I just don't have the heart to flatten it and start again! I’ll most likely go DEM with my next one though.

Here’s a prototypical part of my current work in progress. All the terrain “hand reared”. Hopefully someone may recognise it. I’ve placed a few key landmarks just to make it feel a bit closer to the finished product, but there’s a lot more landscaping and colouring in to do!

I still need the track gradients before moving much further. I had a trip to the Heritage railway in question yesterday – buffet was open, but the bookshop was closed, where I was hoping to find the track heights and some more research material.

With regard to finding time for route building - I highly recommend retirement!

Cheers

Got it in one electra.

Swanage railway, just south of Corfe Castle it is!

Looks like it'll be worth pressing on with this one then, as it's recognisable.

Great shots everyone. Haven't posted a shot for a while, so here's one of a summer afternoon Norwich-Lowestoft service stopping at Cantley:

The ruined castle on the hill says Corfe Castle, to me :)

The fact that the picture is named 'corfe8' is a bit of a clue :hehe: Great screenie Casper. I am building the Swanage branch up to and including Wareham myself but its nothing like as detailed as yours

Hi Andy.

Thanks for your kind words.

Yes, the image title was a bit of a giveaway. Just as well that no prizes are being awarded!

I wouldn’t like to say mine is more detailed. If it is, it’s only my coloured in bit which I did for the screenshot, and to generate a bit of self motivation. The rest is pretty bare.

Yours is clearly far more advanced. Nice shot too. Did you use DEM to do the terrain?

I’ve only created four baseboards – with track just north of Harman’s Cross to just short of Norden Park and Ride. Around two miles only!

It would be nice to think that all of it might eventually match my posed screenshot #10110 on the last page.

Here’s the real truth showing the agonisingly familiar work in progress bits of the route, basemaps, untextured areas etc:

Cheers

There's a Midshire Mainline thread on here and the British trainz forum for use of finding missing kuids from the route :) .
