UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

Angela your routes are always a pleasure to look at and navigate round but you over do the amount of signals you place . (You've got 3 signals on the same line within 100 feet of each other on the far track ). Bit of a nightmare in driver mode , Having to slap the lot in when you see one yellow . :)

Signals

(You've got 3 signals on the same line within 100 feet of each other on the far track ). Bit of a nightmare in driver mode , Having to slap the lot in when you see one yellow . :)

I think that may have happened because I had been fiddling about with tracks and points. But yes, I do use a lot of signals I must admit, if there's a point ahead I usually stick a signal in front of it if it's a traling one.
As you may have guessed, signalling isn't my sprong point, but when I test run the route rarely has a hiccup....
I think the best thing to do is to change my signals for the VSR ones anyway, they are georgeous.

God Bless,

Angela

Hello Jay,
3-rail is even more of a mystery to me than two! I have downloaded that tutorial so that should help.

My eyes are playing up again at the moment so I am having to keep off Trainz as much as possible, a bit of a blow because a lot of my time is spent in it.... but I need my peepers...

Thanks for the link.

God bless,

Angela

Search for UK Cantery

Hi all at the momnet I'm looking for some over head electric cables. Can any one point me in the right direction to find some. Thanks

I've always found that working with cantenaries is hard. I'm making a route now and I'm still trying to figure out a way how to make the cantenaries fit. What I mean by that is, making them straight. On most splines you can use the straighten track button to straighten that spline but it doesn't seem to work with cantenaries.

hi angela

you will need microsoft word to open the file, thats what i use and then i print it off.

just to show you it works.

Not ny me...

I see my tutorial is actually being used then :)

Hello Louise,
Unfortunately not by me because I do not have MS Word on my PC... that's why I am getting a page full of scrambled egg!

Bit of a bummer...

Angela

I notice from the piccy that the 3rd rail is on the outside for SR, which I use, but that is against the built-in 'Track Direction' when laid for the Southern because when laid 'in flow' the third rail is on the inside of both.

Not angelah

Angelah it should open in open office which is free :) http://www.openoffice.org/ I have tried it myself and it works. It don't work 100% but ALL the content is there and pics it puts some pics on a new page. HTH :)

Call me Angela, leave the h off, it's too formal....

I did have Word but it kept opening when I least expected it to and not when I wanted, it drove me mad so I changed to Lotus.
I'll have a look at your suggestion, and thanks for that.
But it won't alter the fact that British Southern will run against the built-in 'direction' implanted by Auran and I feel that will cause problems with AI.

I always use single track to take advantage of the 'direction' in it so putting the power rail to the outside will cause that to be opposite.
I might try to find a single power rail and use plain 2-rail track if I find hiccups, I know there is some. Have you had any?

Angela

Angela the tutorial is writen with Bloodnoks 3rd rail track You can see 2 tracks in that imge because I had laid 2 lengths of 4m 3rd rail brown track :) Hope that clears any confusion up :)

Yes, that's what I have been using, you can see it in my screenies. But to get the 'direction' correct this must be laid power rail inside.

Thanks for replying so quickly.

My eyes are playing up now so I must get off the PC. I'll look again in the morning.

Thanks,

Angela

Angela use Track direction markers in the track menu 3rd tab yellow marker they make the AI behave itself :)

Yes, I know all about those.... but thanks anyway.

I will do what I always do, experiment with different tracks now I have the other ones and the atand-alone power rails to 'play' with.

God bless you,

Angela

Tip, DON'T bother making catenary straight, they're not (if you believe it or not!).
Overhead wiring moves slightly side to side to even out wear on the pantograph head, as if you had a wire going to point A to point B in one straight line, you might find that the friction produced by the steel wire and pantograph head, may create a groove in the head after some distance, thus the wire could get locked into that position and bring down the catenary when the direction changes. (I might be wrong though)
