UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

Afternoon all !

I'm delighted to see the quality of screenshots here hasnt' faultered one bit. It's been wonderful to sift through the pages I've missed, looking at beautiful countrysides, sprawling cities and the diverse range of locomotives & stock !

Heres to keeping those screenshots coming !

Gangsta.

Tip, DON'T bother making catenary straight, they're not (if you believe it or not!).
Overhead wiring moves slightly side to side to even out wear on the pantograph head, as if you had a wire going to point A to point B in one straight line, you might find that the friction produced by the steel wire and pantograph head, may create a groove in the head after some distance, thus the wire could get locked into that position and bring down the catenary when the direction changes. (I might be wrong though)

No WEN you are very correct in your statement. Although its copper wire not steel wire as that gives the best conductivity with the least amount of resistance. The best metal to use would be gold but I can't see 24k gold wires going up along the network can you ;)

I can imagain them throughout the country for the short time before they get nicked!!

that reminds me of last february when someone cut a section out of the signaling wire so everyone got diverted down another way (except the NXEC passengers due to lack of electrification!! man i felt happy knowing I was on a voyager and wouldn't be stranded)(although I also felt for the stranded people since it was about 10:30pm)

happy on a voyager? you OK?

I'm used to the WCML being closed for one reason or another, usually electrical, signalling mind

although, more often now, I seem to hear about class 321's 'bringing down the wires' around Tring....

hmm...!

59204 and a BR black class 13 shunter (the number apparently has no relevance to the fact that it's still an 08!) sit on a depot somewhere....

My first screens

SO here are my first feeble efforts, go easy on me as my machine isn't up to spec by a LONG WAY!

47727 Caerphilly Castle powers away from Carlisle

57310 'Kyrano' drags 390011 'City of Lichfield' with a WCML diversion from Carlisle.

Note on this last one, I downloaded jivebunny's excellent Pendolino but found the drag version to still be powering the train. As I'm not aware of any way of isolating engines within driver I spent some time (trial and error) and have now managed to get it is a dead set. Anyone have contact details for jivebunny (I know he had a bad HDD death, killing our hopes of Pendo V2) because I'd like to make it available to all if possible.

Thanks

Matt Wilson

13308 was its Pre Tops number (08238) many 08's were numbered in the 13xxx series before becoming D3xxx (minus the one in the 13xxx)

When was your photo taken? will it include the nameplate?

@ Matt (Wilson)

Try changing the config file.

where it says engine, change the 1 (or whatever number it is) to 0

that may work, it does with most things, but I haven't got the 390, so can't really help further

Not a single UK screenie posted for over 24 hours..........:o Come on guys!

Just to get us back on to page 1, here's a Class 40 leaving Crudley on an inter-regional express.

Mumrarr........you are Matt Wilson?! I met you at Frinckley Lane the other year when that pair of 87's worked those coal hoppers down the ECML! Love your fotopic site, you seemed like a genuinely nice chap at the lineside too......was gonna e-mail you that evening, but hey if you've got into Trainz then that's great :)

Cheers,
Ben (Wheeler) ;)

Yes, it should include the nameplate.....if the texture mapping allows for a nameplate! (am not sure if it does, as I remember I had problems with class 08 nameplates before)

If the nameplate is on the battery box (same place as my green 08 reskin BR logo) then one will be reversed- best to leave it out if this is the case?
