UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

Paul,

I have to say that, as 'lewisner' said, the tress and bushes at Windmill Halt on your "Ashburton to Windrush Railway V2" (v3.4) route really do look great, not just in the screenshot you gave, but in operation as well and they don't seem to be waving around at all!

It seems to me that anyone that sees trees waving around too much, just needs to lower the windspeed a bit in the 'environment' menu, though, I admit that water often looks better when it's a little choppy and so with a little wind blowing. It's just one of life's little compromises I suppose.

Anyone else having trouble with nathanmallard's screenshots? They won't seem to load for me - even his banner corrupts! Eveyrone else's images are fine.
Hmmm. They are quite large, maybe that could be it? I can view them.

Hi

With regard to speedtrees, I live on top of the Pennines and the speedtrees waving about look perfectly normal to me. Perhaps it depends on where you live and what you are used to.

Regards

Brian

Hi all, just a couple from me:

Personally where i live i rarely see tree's swaying in the wind, The leaves and small branches sure. But not the whole tree.. Personally im not a fan of the speedtree's, But that's just down to personal preference.

Near where I live, on the coastal upland area called The Burren in County Clare, Ireland, what few trees there are bowed over, pointing north-east, following the prevailing winds from the south-west. I think it's safe to say they have been doing a good bit of swaying in their time. So again it depends where you are used to.

I think it also depends on what you think you are simulating. If you think you are simulating a model railway, then you will probably not want swaying trees. If you saw the trees swaying on an model railway club's exhibition layout, you'd probably say to yourself "that's pretty cheesy"! However, if you think you are simulating a "real" railway (in some sense) - and if you're outdoors a bit - then swaying trees are probably in order - that is what usually tells us whether it's windy out, after all.

I think, N3V should consider offering a Speedtree stiffness/mobility parameter as well as the wind-speed parameter in a future release. Then everyone can set it as they wish.

Peter.

come on now it was a simple mistake by a user we will have no comments that are going to upset people this is a friendly community forum :D
