Fencehouses "was" a station on the NER Leamside line which has been mothballed since 1990 and will probably soon be ripped up.A Minute from the Parish Council to the LNER in 1937 said that "in the rush hour the platform was so crowded that people were in danger of falling onto the track" and "could not get to the news stand in the waiting room!"
