As a frequent visitor to arraial's own thread (MARZ base alpha in screenshots) I can say the turntable is currently being made as payware. I'm taking a wild guess that it could be another commission for 2995Valliant though I could be wrong.

Yeah, OK, no one is laughing at the turntable joke then.

After I removed the 1TB troublesome drive and slapped something of 250GB (so I've lost 750GB for the time being. Don't even think about suggesting that I should stick a 750GB drive in, I don't have any SATA ports left, theres only 2 on this motherboard.), I started messing with the 502 and some rendering in "Mental Ray". If you thought the name was a bit mental, what it does to your computer resources is something else, it really does go "mental" over your resources.

But the image quality is unbelievable. I was using "scanline" rendering with 3D Studio Max's rendering engine that chokes at anything if it has shadows, ray tracing, more than 1 light or any poly. This just had one light, a sunlight. I'm also thinking of posting it in the Railworks threads so I can go "Cross Simulator*" for once.

* Trainz version will have far more features, including TPWS, Autoannoucers, Working controls, Mesh switching and various other items not available for the Rail Simulator crowd.

Possibly not, the rendering engine of Mental Ray (for static images) and Auran Jet is completely different, plus they are they are meant for different challenges. Mental ray will take hours to churn out an image (hence why the quality is better) whereas Trainz churns them out in seconds. That means Trainz would have to sacrafice a lot of quality to churn out the frames.

Great screenshot WEN. Didn't get chance to get into the cab Sunday. Busy packing spares & equipment for the big move, (hopefully). The cabs remain sealed & sheet-ed over for now. Got some quick shots of the bogie's & under-frame equipment before we packed up though. Not easy as contractors have parked there plant alongside the motor coach.

Don't worry, I'm appreciated what you can get, I've just got the hard drive issue which is annoying. I hope they haven't damanged any of the unit by planting their plant alongside it.

After posting there is a short period when you can do an edit, and if you put nothing in the "Reason for edit:" section, that line will not appear.

In addition, I believe that you can also edit/blank out the title of the post during this window of opportunity, provided no-one else had put up a subsequent post.
