UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

Dear Friends from Great Britain,
was there 2 or 3 axle compartment coaches in GB in service?
Just like those one:

I have discovered two objects, but I am a bit confused about their paint scheme.
And at least: Was such coaches anytime in service?

Yes, there were several types of 2 - 3 axle coaches in service, they however, don't appear to be well represented in Trainz (although I've made a couple of them).
Most of them were a myrid shade of green, however, there were apparently some maroon coaches (Midland Railway), blue (SDJR), Chocolate and Cream (GWR), teak (Metropolian Railway - IIRC) and may of appeared in other liveries.

One style that has seen preservation is these few from the Isle of Wight steam railway.http://www.iwsteamrailway.co.uk/the-railway/carriages-a-wagons/78.html
If you need any reference, I have a diagram available for the Metropolian Railway and Metropolitan District Railway types.

  • Does the steamer drive the "right" lane? Because, I thought in GB is left hand traffic.

UK stock is usually on the left hand and interestingly, the drivers cab is also in most cases, on the left hand. However, some lines are able to work in both directions, so can appear on the right. In the UK, lines are also distingushed as "up" or "down", in most cases, the lines refer as "Up" to London or "Down" from London. (Or other major destination, e.g. Manchester). Where lines diverge, they can be refered to as "Up main/Down Main" or for example "Up Cosham/Down Cosham, Up Main/Down Main"

My first screenies of 2012.

What a pleasant surprise to see the Tope ballast wagon released, thanks to the guys who made it possible. Another superb addition.

Departmental liveried class 33057 in action heading said vehicles.

I better to get to the DLS for that wagon!

Anyway.. My route updating, finally I finished work on the station area so countryside shots will be showing up a lot now.

As I have to keep testing the route i've made it interesting by finding the use system time rule in my list.. Now whenever I launch to quickdrive the time will be the same as the real world.. Nice! Simple things!

Meanwhile, in North Wales...

Lyd brings a regular passenger train towards Tanygrisiau station and on through to Porthmadog on the Ffestiniog Railway.

For those who asked, the GWR 2884 class in my last screenshot is payware from Paulz Trainz, updated with TC3 steam effects and my own (beta) sounds and e-spec.

@FSP - all GWR loco's were in fact right hand drive, but as with all bar one twin track line in this country, driven on the left. The loco is wrong line in that shot just because the line is at a terminus, and signalled for bi-directional running. Paulz Trainz also have some 4 and 6 wheel coaches available.

hth,

Anthony

Many thanks for Your fast kind answer. That's all very interesting. So I know a bit more about British railroading. :)

@2995Valliant

Nice shot, I like the hedge you are using. I have never found a good hedge so could you please tell me the kuid.

It's been a good while since I posted anything of note. Having finally managed to get the Kyle route into TS12, I'm progressing very slowly again with improved speed thanks to a new GPU. These shots are probably a bit similar to a few I've posted in the past so apologies on that count.

A 26 starts the long slow journey to Inverness (yes, I know the headcode is wrong, this was only a route test).

I think you are capturing the atmosphere of the highland railways, keep it up.
If you eventually upload it, I hope you keep the build number so that it can be used in TS2010 (assuming I live long enough to download it :hehe:)

Assuming I live long enough to finish it more like!

Shouldn't be "as long as the hard drive doesn't fail first and the file goes missing?" I've had that problem already, the hard drive started failing (hence why the 502 hasn't been mentioned recently) and I had to withdraw it from service. Find another one out of my collection of computers and then plonk that in.

Does this mean the 502 is an abandoned project then?

No, its not, I got the computer up and running again, the files I have backed up and recovered, I've got the hard drive in storage, I've had to do a scratchbuild of the PC and thats all sorted. I was lucky I caught it failing as I found out the problem started on the 20/12/2011 (when the hard drive first reported bad sectors). It seems like the computer is trying to write somewhere it can't, thus causing other problems, like crashing the PC. I'm not too sure whats wrong with it though, perhaps its a simple case of bad sectors, perhaps is more detrimental than that (like the hard drive bearings have long expired.)

In fact, I started working on the TSO/TC as I didn't want to do the mapping on the DMBS until I did the trailers because the texture would look wrong, thats already happened on some of my stuff, like the EPB where the mapping of the trailer doesn't quite line up with the motors because of the slightly different lengths of the carriages and how I applied the mapping.

Glad you got sorted, good news indeed. Judging from the last pic posted the 502 is looking good.

Rob.

Yep, its a shame it has happened, at the moment, I have copies of the meshes on a USB stick and a hard drive, I'm thinking of implimenting a backup regime, but I really would like a NAS that has RAID10 (or is it RAID1+0?). Expensive as hell, but worth it as the RAID can sustain multiple drive failures without the loss of data, as long as you don't lose every drive on one side.
