UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

Paulsw2, you really ought to get yourself on the scoreboard ( otherwise known as the DLS ) as your screenshots of this layout just demonstrate what a talented route builder you are and we would all like to share in your creations, you did a little winter route last year didn't you, but, I never saw the finished article, and once your little army of fans beg you for more routes there'll be no stopping you, that's for certain....:hehe:

Nice work Rumour3

Great shots everyone!

Some from Gwinear Road, there was once a station here, which was also the junction for Helston, now its just a tight 50 mph bend with a level crossing in the middle.

A Paddington to Penzance service passes.

Looking west, the old down platform is still in tact. After this the line drops for 4 miles down to Hayle.

Very nice Mark, looking forward to this. Just a thought - search for 'stril' or 'ustrail' on the DLS for some very nice level crossing surfaces. There's a huge kit with spline and trackside items - it should go well with the ATLS level crossing items...

And Paulsw2 - one word... :udrool:

Thanks, however when i type in 'Stril' it didn't find anything, with all versions ticked and i looked under username, name and description.

On a Then and Now theme, these are the "then" to Mark's most excellent "now" at Gwinear Road

Looking West. The Helston Branch platforn is on the left.

Looking East. The 9 mile Helston Branch runs under the overbridge in the distance. The cutting is now filled in.

I'm gradually building the Helston Branch set in the late 50s/early 60s. The basic route is complete, but some areas need detailing, and the town at Helston building.

....you did a little winter route last year didn't you, but, I never saw the finished article...

Thanks ex. Yes, I was working on Lavenham in Suffolk as my 'winter' layout. I put it to one side as the nights grew longer and then switched to Kemble as my 'summer' layout. I hope to return to Lavenham and finish it off once the dark nights return. Here's a little reminder of what it looks like....

But I do wonder if there's a market for these 'micro-layouts', ie. short prototypical settings based around a site such as a station, depot etc. They're not really 'routes' are they?

The DLS calls them "layouts", so I wouldn't worry about that!

Lord Claude Hamilton's little maps are some of my favourites, and quite a few other peoples too by the number of downloads. So I say, go for it....

Lavenham still looks as good as I remember from last year - I hope you get it finished soon.

cheers

Looks great. :)

I was actually in Blandford on Saturday (the station is long gone, but the trackbed is mostly intact and now a trailway). If you've done the whole of the S&D from Bath to Poole I suspect the New Somerset & Dorset Railway would like to hear from you... ;)

Hello Paul,

Yep, that's the one, an excellently detailed little creation, glad you've still got it on your hard-drive.......:)
Don't worry about micro-layouts as such, If you don't fancy extending a map for any great length put a portal at each end, just as long as there is enough room to do some shunting and run a freight or passenger train or two into and out of the local area, that's good enough, it doesn't have to be a massive route......
Stovepipe has a good memory in saying that some of his Lordships layouts were small but very playable and extremely popular, which is what this game is all about, and looking at your recent screenies, you've got plenty of detail and quality on show to get us all drooling.....

Lots more Duffs for us old duffers to play with......:hehe::hehe:
Particular thanks to Colin and Natty and Tony.....:)

And yes, they're all driving on the wrong side, but, it's a Polish route, before anyone says anything....:p

On the DLS today...

Note that this is the 'old' model, released as a stop gap until the Blender one that I'm currently working on is ready.

Thanks for the model,rumour3. In CMP, BR Class 105 Interior shows missing dependancies. But when opened in edit mode, all deps are there. I can't work out why this is the case. Interior views in passenger saloon seem too close to the ceiling. Hope you don't mind me pointing these things out. Perhaps you already know as you are building another version in blender. Regards.
