I think the side door is actually a window. I think the door is at the front, as you can see a handle.
 
Nope, it's a door. It's a platform high door as I recall reading somewhere. Battery locomotives don't just operate in the underground, but also in some subsurface areas. So the platforms are higher. That just makes it easier to get out of the cab if the driver has to stop at a station with a higher platform.

There is no side door on this batch of 6 locos, only the front of cab ones and despite being the newest of the battery locos, they've been withdrawn. Older battery locos do indeed have a side door.

Faceless Train (East-JR class...forgotten). Trains in recently Japan are such a Faceless, no more attractive:(

i dissagree with this thread! i think that all railroad equipment are beautiful, not ugly.we should appreciate all trains, not judge them by their appearance. on the other hand, ugly cars usually have poor performance, like ford. who would want a cheap car like a ford? no offense to ford owners.
 
although i dont want to sound like a hippocrite, but there is one locomotive i kind of dont like. its the marta cq312. its not the appearance or the performance, its actually quite good. its the interior. it looks like beige play doh, and most mornings, the cars even reek of urine. it can be fixed though.

no thanks! i might get an audi when i might get my license in four years.:) also, i kind of agree with keimei's post, since i like it hen japanese trains have a cool paint job like a cat or if they have a light-up logo on the front.

Now that steamer right there is an Inspection Locomotive for the railroad. Purddy ain't she. At least I think so lol. The inspection locomotives went out of style around 20s.
