ugly trains

I must be honest, I've oddly enough taken a positive fancy to the 'streamlined' GWR engine, tempted to edit an image to improve it and post here..

(my apologies if this has been posted already)

The milwaukee road decided to put an f unit and a baggage car in a blender, this is what they got.

Admittedly, it doesn't look that ugly, just weird.

Reminds me of New York Central's experimental jet-engine-powered RDC-3 #M-497, AKA 'Black Beetle'.

I believe I heard NYC's one caused dangerous debry! I believe it was ballast and everything else light enough to become airbourne.. not just ugly(?), also a serious health and safety hazard! I persume the Russian counterpart suffered this too.

Idk, these things always bothered me. Something about the cab windows being so tall it always looked like it took a hit from a low hanging tree. Couldn't imagine the noise these things made as being nice either.

Definitely not my favorite.

If you are referring to the PRR Centipede they were quite agile. Think of it as a 4-8-8-4 (wheel-wise). the 8-wheel bogeys in the center are not rigidly attached to the engine body. Rather each 8-wheel bogey is attached to a bolster along with one of the 4-wheel bogeys. The bolster is attached to the engine body usually half way between the 4-wheel and 8-wheel bogeys so each bogey can swivel. Its the same as multi-bogey traincars. If the wheels are 36 inches in diameter the longest ridged wheelbase is a little over 9 feet. Less then most consolidations. These could easily "snake" their way around wyes and through yard throats.

That happens to be what looks like a Plymouth industrial switcher. Davesnow has made one, and there's a few reskins of it on the Download Station also. Here's a few pictures of some other Plymouth switchers, along with what may be the one Davesnow based his off of.

The caboose looks quite different, in a good way for me... :) The remains of that switcher though... it feels like a ghost train that, despite being 'dead' could just come for you.. :O (Have I overdone it? :hehe:)
