Uggggly! Speed Trees

I have Trainz 2010 and the speed trees are nothing but ugly..I saw post weeks ago about this but it related to the ATI card. I have Nvidia 9800gtx...is it this card also? Trees dont fill in until they are almost out of the sceen and only a few of them will fill in. The rest are ugly stick graphics. I tried all the game and card options but no joy. If there is no answer, is there a way to turn them off ? I run with graphic detail on normal. Rest of the graphics is ok and frame rate seems good. Core i7/3g ram.

The amount of vegetation they show depends on the date and season. Play around with Edit Environment to see what I mean. I'm guessing that as it is more or less winter in the Northern Hemisphere, that your trees are showing bare in game.

I think SOME of them are ugly, too. Depends on which trees you are looking at. But IMHO, I think the right trees look incredibly good. Better than those old 2D trees in the older versions of Trainz. The right Speedtreez look good at any angle.

Just my opinion,

Dave

ditto .. my opinion as well

The speedtreez included with TS2010 are of "mixed quality" shall we say!

Better speedtreez have been produced and I hope more will be in the future.

Check out the freeware Ultratreez by "McGuirel" (On the DLS) and also her payware: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=61157 for some examples

Just my opinion !

N.B. you should also check the date you have set set in environment (as suggested earlier).

As a newcomer to 2010, bare trees in a route I was creating puzzled me until I learned about the environment setting. It appears that a new route is given the date of its first creation, so as I began mine in late October Trainz assumed that all deciduous trees were bare (it should try looking at my garden this year!) Setting the date to July instantly produced lush vegetation.

Incidentally, when I imported one of my own routes from 2004 (built-in assets only) there were no problems but I noticed that the rather anonymous 2004 trees (such as, for example, tree 56) became genuine species such as elm. Very clever!

Thanks to all for your help.... the rendering of the "winter trees" without foliage look like large cactus not bare trees, no more detail then that. Medium and smaller branches are just not there and I have the detail cranked up. Running Routes CN Holly Sub. A Day in Durand. When I edit to October I can certainly accept that rendering as well as other prime foliage seasons. I just cant accept the rendering on the winter trees and I though my system was causing this. If they got wheels to look circular why cant we draw a bare tree well?

This topic has been discussed in detail before, have a look using the forum search facility, and the "stickey" post. There are suggestions on fixes/replacements (as well as those telling Auran where to put them.....).

PS Try the 2010 forum pages, which is for 2010 discussions, speedtrees are not relevant to other versions.
