Years ago before Athearn raised its prices with the new DCC locos, I purchased 10 of these analog HO locos for @ $20 each.

We pulled a 45 car train in HO around the living room, Christmas tree.

Looking great !

I remember them days there was a place up the street with tons of Athearn, i think every week my dad got a new loco.

How'd you get them working? I have the hardest time finding the dependencies. If not, I would be reskinning those!

Cheers,

Man, I love U-Boats!!!!

Hope we get some good ones again some time.

Until then, I'll just drive this old baby!

These engines are Halpert's U30C undec from the DLS. I managed to get it working with 2010. I then had the crazy idea of alphaing out the top of the radiator section and making a mesh piece for the radiator wings for the U33/36C....this unit has a minimum of details, so adding parts for a specific model can be accomplished. I adapted the Coupler Pocket from the RS3 mod that I just did. A few more details and I think I can build a passable U30/33/34/36C unit until someone more talented than me builds one....

I borrowed the trucks/coupler mesh/engine spec from NS37's free ware ATSF C30-7.....I realize that the trucks are for latter C series units, but hey, look pretty good under there.

I checked the diesel shop, apparently the U23/30/33/34/36C, C30-7 and C36-7 all share the same frame and hoods, with the exception of the radiator sections and placement of some details.....

I guess we will see what happens. I just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Thanks for the compliments!

EDIT: So far I see some SP U33C's for pusher duty for Cajon.....Kaiser steel units (Anyone up for building the Eagle Mountain rr?).. D&H units (If I can find that Bridge line DEM again....That and some SD45s.....ooooooooooo) and some units from my younger days..... DEEX U30Cs and SD40 units.... I'm from Ohio, just south of Cleveland (Akron), which leads to the final idea, EL units. Akron had the PRR, EL, and B&O railroads.................

Allow me to add that I appreciate what you've done for the community, and this is another stellar contribution!

Woo Hoo!! I remember watching the DEEX across the Mon River from my younger days. I tried to make my own once, but didn't have very much luck (or patience as the case may be). PC, CR, and P&LE on my end. I'd LOVE to see the DEEX units!!! :udrool:

Amazing. I was doing a search for detail photos of GE radiator grills and this link popped up. I recently made a D&H U30C from that model. Someone did one a while back and never released it (Flamerail?), but had a shot of it in his sig. Since I've been researching the Wilkes-Barre & Eastern, and they used D&H trackage rights through S-W-B, it would appear that appropriate D&H power would eventually be needed. (I wish they made GP39-2's in N scale, too.)

I also made a D&H C36-7 to stand in for the U33C's. It wasn't perfect. The model was clearly made for UP paint and that's it. Edges of skin files refuse to match up, so the striping is a bit questionable. Not terribly noticeable at a distance. I asked the creator of the C36-7 if I could upload, and he told me no, he was getting ready to release an update that would be better for the job. I never saw that update, so C36's in D&H, Cartier(!), Clinchfield, and C&O paint have been sitting on my hard drive. The Clinchfield units are particularly awesome lugging coal out of Dante to Elkhorn City.

Interested in adding C&O and a fictional P&LE to the U30C list and Clinchfield and Cartier U36C's (so I don't have to do 'em... :D )? I love the spartan look of C&O blue and P&LE black. I always wondered what P&LE could have gotten out of six-axle units.

BTW: I'm also from Ohio, but further south, as indicated in my username. :)

Sorry for the 1 year+ Bump but are these in the pile still or have they been tossed aside for the ALCO projects?
