Tunnel with Turnout

Hi All

My previous posts have solved the issues I had
New issue is:
I am copying my N Scale layout that has a turnout within a mountain (yes I have access)
So can I have a tunnel merge with another at a turnout? It will then proceed to exit the mountain

Thanks
Frank

Short answer, maybe, depends on how you are going about it.
Trainz and tunnels is a funny thing... there are several ways to make them and each has its advantages. I do know it supposedly was possible to do in a previous version, but the version, the how, and the assets involved, escapes me right now (I had to unexpectedly work last night at 0130). Check out the folks who model subways... I think it came from them.

There are two ways to make tunnels. The first way is to use dig-hole assets and attach them to the tunnels. This forces the tunnels to lock on to the GRID because the dig-hole is used to open up the ground for the tunnel entrance.

The free, roll your own type of tunnels, use dig-hole assets but the difference is you place them where you want them. The tunnel is now a spline that the tracks sit inside.

It is this kind of asset you can use for your switches inside the tunnel because the tunnels are hand built. The tunnel entrances will still need to be filled in using tunnel entrance assets, splines, rocks, and whatever else you want to fill in the hole created by the dig-hole since the dig-holes still lock on to the grid and not everything else will always align perfectly with the tunnel entrances.

John's Way will have trains going through the tunnel wall. AJS tunnels have actual diverges that only have a tunnel wall on one side. The bottom and top of the tunnel have extra width to allow for the diverge of single or double track.

Not really. Frank needs to choose tunnel pieces carefully. There are some really, really wide tunnels with diverging openings and space for crossovers. There are many subway and tram tunnels on the DLS and elsewhere on the web.

Fritch12301, the second way Jcitron has for building tunnels coupled with the AJS tunnels by Andi06 is the way it was done as I recall... I think Andi06 made those assets to solve this type of problem, as I recall it was to put the swiitches for a station throat in tunnels that drove it. Not only are the AJS tunnels good the AJS station kit assets are wonderful along with the Junction Kit (which I still use as a template to lay out complex trackwork, yard ladders, etc.).

Sorry about earlier, but I did want to at least tell you it was possible, but was a bit tired. I'm working a spare board and the conductor in front of me marked off sick (I'm hoping it was "bad-weather-itus" and that he isn't actually sick) but I was expecting not to be called till the following morning at the earliest... the joys of the spare board.

Seems like I have much researching ahead
I’m getting proficient with Teainz much more than 2 months back

Thank you

You need a dighole where the track enters the ground. Then move the tunnel track back to just peek out of the mountain. Cover the area around the tunnel entrance with other scenery objects to hide the rest of the dighole.
