TS2012 builds and service packs

I have updated my build from 46957 to 48249 and 48249 to 49922. I see various TS2012 service packs are also available. Questions: 1. Are the service packs also needed or are their contents included in the build updates? 2. If the service packs are also needed, are all needed or does the last numbered service pack include the elements of the previous service packs? I would appreciate feedback on these questions. Thanks.

Hello there g, welcome aboard!!! I'm sure some one much wiser than I will soon answer your question. I'm happy with staying at 49922. IF you're just starting out with TS12, maybe this might be a good time to install SP1 and the rest of it?? Please, don't take my word on this! Some of the old pros will give you a helping hand.

There are builds above 49922, but I'd advise caution if you want to go above 49922. If you want to take the risk of a lot of bugs affecting your version, the patch is at http://download2.ts2009.com/49922_to_58414.exe, and is 1.8GB in size (and may take several hours to install as well).

While on this subject, I think we all need a clarification or explanation about the built numbers (I.e.:49922), version numbers, (2.9) and SP1,2 and 3 What is the relationship among them and why making all this more complicated?

From memory, I could be wrong:

2.9 = TS2009
3.0 = TS2010
3.1 = TS2010 SP1
3.2 = TS2010 SP2
3.3 = TS2010 SP3 (44088)
3.4 = TS2010 SP4 (49933)
3.5 = TS12 original
3.6 = TS12 w/ first patch (not a Service pack) currently 49922
3.7 = TS12 SP1 (currently 58414)

There is no SP2 or 3 there is only SP1 and 3 hotfixes if you go that route you need all of them SP1 then HF1, HF2 and HF3.
