Trainz Jedi
I finally installed TS2010 to check it out. (I've had it for about 6 months, but it disappeared when my oldest tried to install it on the laptop. Go figure.
)
I even went all out and installed Win 7. I loved XP, and hate 7 that is installed on our school computers. It's a royal pain and it appears to run sloooooower. But with the "explorer.exe must shut down" error creeping into every one of my photo folders, if I was going to continue creating in Trainz, it looked like it was a must.
I backed up all my content as usual, installed it, and...
... so far, I'm not impressed. The trees sway in the wind. Ooo. Is this the "speedtreez" everyone complains about? Now I know why. My machine is top-of-the-line, and it slows down for these things (and nothing else has slowed it down). It would be something if they sway in a wave pattern as trees do when a train passes by, but I haven't seen that yet, and I wouldn't build something so needlessly complex for something so minor and unimportant.
Lots of my content is listed in red type and doesn't show up. You know? I have a life. I don't have time to update all this stuff. I teach, lesson plan, and grade about 60 hours a week. This is a hobby, not a job. I'll happily go back to TS2009 until I move in six weeks and get started planning and building my model railroad, which will never need a driver update.
I went to my layouts, and none of them show up. WTH? I've spent about a year updating the Interstate Railroad and starting the Wilkes-Barre & Eastern to connect to my Susquehanna map. I almost haven't done anything else in Trainz. Importing it into TS2010 doesn't seem to make it show up. And I can't find it. I've looked in the custom/maps folder, but it doesn't appear to show up in CM. I can't find the WB&E at all. It's folder isn't even there, which is really odd. Every other route I've created in Trainz is there. So... where is it?
There has to be a logical answer for this, but I cannot imagine any. Is this a bug in CM? How does one run around it?
