TS2009 Patch fix

The next thing to check is that you are actually using the correct patch and that your version of XP is running SP3.

Also, as with Vista/7, make sure you are running the patch from an admin account, not a limited account (if you are using a limited account, you may be able to counteract the problems by using the Run as... option when you right-click the file.

Unfortunately, clicking Cancel carries the risk of having to re-install TS2009. I would advise if you do have to re-install TS2009, is to install the patches before importing custom content from earlier versions - do a database repair between each one.

EDIT: For some reason, your TS2009 does not appear on your profile information above each message you post - is it fully registered with N3V Games/Auran?

Well, I suppose reinstalling TS2009 isn't the end of the world. What I've done until now is-

-backed up my local content

-Uninstalled TS2009

-Ran Cleanup

-Rebooted

-Reinstalled TS2009

- When I attempted to start Trainz, it said there was a patch available, and asked me if I would like to obtain it now, I said yes. That's what brought up the now frozen patch.

My copy SHOULD be register and I SHOULD have it listed on my profile, but I'd have to check.

I don't know if my version of XP is running SP3, so I will check, and I am on an administrative account.

Would you say it would be logical to click 'cancel' and start over at this point, or do you think I can salvage it?

Thanks for your time, patience and support.

I think after 15 hours it is going to be a case of cancel and start again.

May be better to download the manual patch. Link should be in the Announcements forum.

Unfortunately there is no manual patch for my build. I've tried everything all over but still no results. I've gone to the helpdesk and I'm waiting for them to get back to me, but in the meantime, any more suggestions? I really don't want to have to use my add-on as standalone, I specifically bought it to be used with TS2009.

Dave

If you are using a manual patch, you may be able to disable the antivirus software during the patch (as long as the system is not connected to the Internet).

Also, it is best if there are no other programs running (apart from background programs, although for best results it is best to end any non-essential ones)

Also, it's best to do the patch before re-importing any content, as this will speed up the process.

Make sure you are running the latest DirectX 9 (August 2009 or February 2010)

A pause during the patch is normal, although most TS2009 patches (without imported content) take 1-2 hours to complete.

Another note - there is a seperate patch for the addon packs that is in the Announcements forum (make sure you read the instructions though, as the build number you will be checking is not the Trainz build number, it will be mentioned in the Trainz Options box.
