TS12-ANN: Is AMD Radeon HD 6570 okay for TS12?

TS12 Recomended (N3V's, not my spelling!) Specs is "nVidia GeForce 7200"

Is 'AMD Radeon HD 6570" the equivalent to the above video card?

That is not an answer to my question, and not of any help.

(Edit: Although I think I allowed for above specs for TS12 when getting if for Windows 7)

It's better on paper than both the minimum and recommended but still a low end card, didn't have a particularly good review for games. Pretty sure though there are some on here using the HD 6570, hopefully they can give you more information.

Then if that is the case, I AM steaming

I wouldn't write it off just yet, if the rest of the system is OK and it runs 2010 it should be able to cope at least as well with TS12.

It copes with TS12, but that's what I'm not steaming mad about, I'm mad as it shows outdated by 27 months, but the computer was only brought in July last year. And also, mad because it seems the salesmen said it was a high end card.

When I went shopping around for parts to build my computer, I was actually going to go with this card. I have seen some youtube videos of some gameplay with this card, and it seems that this card handles some games pretty decently. I have an EVGA GTX 550Ti with FPB. For me, Trainz runs pretty smooth. As Clam1952 said earlier, hopefully someone running Trainz with a RADEON HD6570 will tell you if it runs good with Trainz.

We've had the 7000 series cards from AMD for a almost a year now, in fact I bought my 7850 last Christmas, so...I think you got ripped off mate.

The 6500 series AMD cards aren't all that bad. I have one of the mobile versions in my Alienware laptop and I also have a HD6950 which I used in my older system and ran Trainz quite well and is a bit of a step up from the 6570.

The NVidia 7200 was never a terrific card. It was rated as a low-power, low-end card. This is the bad part about these companies. They conjure up sub-products based around a family of video processors. These products use the same components, but the manufacturer cripples the processor and RAM in some way to keep the cost down. When they do this, the cards operate slower and have other annoyances when pushed.

I am using the AMD 6670/1GB by MSI and FPS are a consistent 40. Having an i7 processor and 12GB of RAM probably helps as well.

JCitron, I remember now (can't find the thread), we brought the computer making sure it was ABOVE the recommended specs for TS12. We did show various shops the recommended specs, and tried to make sure it was above those.

Hi Red,

I remember that post too. It's been awhile and like anything in the forums here it disappears like a train going downhill quickly. :)

The 6570 is a fine card and should work fine. In fact I was using my Alienware laptop the other day and it runs TS12 fine. It gets a little chunky once in awhile, but runs overall quite nicely.

If you're looking to replace the card with something else, look at their 7000 series, but to be honest if there's nothing wrong with what you have already, don't bother and waste your money. You shouldn't have to justify replacing hardware just for the sake of replacing it. If you can't come up with a concrete reason, like it's really, really old, broken, dying, etc., then don't replace it and waste your money. This is part of my overall questions I ask people when helping them spec out new hardware.

well the concern card 6570 is a low end low budget card and dont expect anything hd from it though it can play games on low settings

Knowing myself that Trainz uses a kinda old engine (Wasn't it made for 2004?) there will be some stuttering and such, no matter how hard you try (although 2GB GDDR5 might not be a bad idea).

Regarding the video card, the newer 7000 series is a good upgrade. If your current card (the 6750 or whatever) you should be OK, but it isn't going to be perfect. If you plan on playing Trainz on mega high settings and other intensive games, definitely upgrade to something like this one - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202011. It should serve your needs well, and I plan on getting a card like this at some point with a new PSU for my Inspiron 620.

Yeah, you can tell it is old language which is too bad as the stuttering really does impact the enjoyment. I was going to twin my 6850 (crossfire) but all of a sudden you can't get the 6850 anymore.
