TRS2009 won't start on new Hard Drive?

Hi all I have rebuilt my PC piecemeal with result that the only remnant of the old one is the 2 optical drives!
The latest addition was a Western Digital Velociraptor 300GB 10,000 RMP HDD which runs very well - fast and ultra quiet.
But, I have a problem.
Just over a week ago I copied TRS2009 in it's entirety to a portable HDD.
I installed the new HDD followed by a clean instally of W7 Ultimate 64 Bit and after a few hiccups and W7 Updates everything was fine.
However I tried to copy TRS2009 over to the new drive and it didn't appear. Today I looked and it HAD appeared.
However when I try to open it, it gets as far as loading the start screen but this then disappears.
There are folders in the drive called Program Files X86 and X64 but it's not in them.
Any idea what I have done wrong?

If you cant get it to transfer do this reinstall the game and copy off the old hard drive what you want to bring over to the new hard drive.

It may be a bit late but I partition my drives, I have a raptor split 50/50. 2006/2010. Then I can direct anything to a specific drive.
You could temporarily couple your old drive with 2009 on, then transfer the files to your new location.

As I always tell people - re-install, don't just copy over.

Do it in the following order:

1.Copy local folder from old system to new system - desktop is a good place
2.Install TS2009.
3.Install Patches.
4.Import old content from copied over local folder.

So the concensus of opinion is re-install?
All I thought was that this (coying) had worked fine in the past though to be fair that was on old hard drives not a new installation.
It was just to get me out of theinstall process and patches etc.
Thanks for the replies!

As an update I tried to re-download but it took THREE HOURS and then failed si I'm obviously not keen to try that again
Last night I managed to get my damaged mini HDD working again and attempted to move TC3 over to my main HDD but again it failed.
So today I tried to run TC3 direct from the mini HDD and experienced various problems until I switched it from OpenGL then clicked "Run As Administator". To my amazement it opened OK and ran well too - not as fast as I would hope obviously due to the fact it is running over a USB cable from a 5400 RPM drive, but still acceptable
The only quirk I have noticed is that one of the Home signal arms is white instead of red except for the lenses.
But at least I know I haven't lost my modified S&C route and Kirkby Stephen East stationwhich was a huge amount of work.

Glad to hear that all is not lost - and don't forget there's a back-up copy of your M&DR here of course, in case of real emergencies. Perhaps when things have calmed down a tad you'll have a chance to try those beta platform splines I sent you. ;)

Well it would have been a major disaster if I'd lost my modified TC3 route, but the other great thing is I haven't had to shell out money.I wonder how many people take mini HDD's into Data Recovery places and the "technicians" just tap them with their knuckles?!
BTW did you see the photo of the roadside of Sledmere warehouse that Matthew has put on the website? He just snuck it on without saying anything :o

Yep, I've seen those Sledmere shots (and the even newer Wetwang additions). I started redoing the Fimber warehouse textures (both sides will need redone because of the new lettering as well as a change to the window layout), but it's all on hold at present since I'm rather busy on matters unrelated to Gmax or Trainz.

At the point they came through I was just getting to grips with spline creation: the first of the cobbled streets and pavements have made it to the DLS, and there are several more items in the testing stage including platforms, specifically two heights of M&DR platforms which I reckon should make the ubiquitous high-and-low mix much easier to create. They should also stop some issues I'm having with interference between your present platform surfaces and models where I'm trying transparent windows - North Grimston new building and the Sledmere signal box e.g.

What I've sent you are very basic trials, in one height only: the intention is not only that they'll be easier to use but also reduce the load on the system.

Yes I know about the transparency problems vis a vis the Gravel spline and the Objects. The reason I chose that spline though was the NER at very small stations often tarmacced the platform close to the station buildings but made the rest of the platform out of fine gravel possibly on some tarry base. This was definitely the case at Burdale, where I remember the huge tree had lifted sections of tarmac up near the front door in the 70's.The rest of the platform past the lever frame was fine gravel though.
Incidentally I opened TC3 today and the signal arm was red and everything was lovely but then the most bizarre thing happened - all the ground started to disappear until eventually there was none left! I adjusted performance settings and put all the DD settings to max and that cured but then the whole game crashed.

The gravel and tarmac textures shouldn't be a problem: the same splines can be produced as separate versions with different textures so that they'd but-up and match exactly. Rather than having a straight line transition, if the tarmac was carried a wee way into the start section of the spline and the gravel blended into it, then it should be possible to have a natural look to it.

I'm going to be away shortly, and I've a lot of other things to do before then, but if you find the basic spline easier to use than your present method, then we can sort out the texture details once I'm back....

Great stuff! I used to use an Asphalt road to represent tarmac platforms but the problem was I couldn't turn the traffic off so I had trucks driving up and down the platform - very disconcerting, not to say dangerous.
