TRS2009-How to play sounds

Hi Guys
i want to know if it is possible to play in the inside the train a sound of " next stop is..." before the train arrive to his station, and the sound is originaly recorded from a video.
How do insert in the game and place along the track?
Thanks

Take a look at this asset on the DLS - Guards whistle,<kuid:165221:1092>

The sound file within it is a .wav file. This would work fine for what you want as you could clone it as many times as you need and insert your individual sound files into one clone at a time and re-name them with the station names perhaps. They would then work as a driver command so you could place a track mark at a set distance before your station and in your driver commands tell your driver to drive via the trackmark to the station with the 'Play Sound File' command straight after the drive via trackmark command. As your train passes the trackmark it will play the sound file relevant to the station which it is approaching so long as you have selected the right one :hehe: .

The config file of this asset allows for modification so long as you adhere to the conditions stated within it. Let me know if this explanation doesn't make sense and we can go over it again

OK. Get the asset and clone it so you can mess about with it but will still have the orginal. Open your clone for edit and look for the .wav file. You can replace this with what ever sound file you like so long as it is in the form described by rweber95 above and it is easier for you if you keep the name the same. Now open the config file in your cloned asset and change username to something like "Sound Test". Commit your assets and load your game. Open a route in surveyor and then go to file/edit session/driver commands and click edit. Put a tick in the box alongside the entry "Sound Test" and it will then be available for you to use as any other driver command such as 'navigate to trackmark' etc. Have a play around with it and you will soon get to understand how to use it for your situation. Create new clones with different .wav files, change the 'username' in the config file for each so that you can tell them apart and then go back to 'Driver commands' and put a tick alongside each new sound command that you have created. They will all then appear in the driver commads list when you are setting AI commands for your trains.

How?

i can't seem to edit the config on the cloned asset. is there a way round this editing. Prehaps a few pictures to shows how to do it would be easier :)

OK. A picture....

CM.jpg

Find the asset by using the 'keyword' search. When it appears in the right hand pane of CM, right click on it and select 'clone'. The asset will then open in the 'Open for Edit' tab, in my picture this is indicated by the red arrow and you can see that it has my kuid number. right click on the cloned asset and select 'Edit in Explorer'. A new window will open, this is shown with the blue arrow, and in this window you will see the 'config' file. (shown in an orange circle here). Double click the config file and it will open in a new window, in notepad, which is shown with a green arrow here. You can then edit this, then use 'File' and 'Save' to keep the changes you make.

You asked is this is necessary ?? The original poster wanted to create different sounds based on which stration was being neared. Each asset would therefore need a different sound file (the .wav file), the usernames would then need to be changed to suit the sound file used.
