TRS04 Log Wagon

Hi,

Does anyone know of a Log Wagon that can be used in TRS2004 that has rolling wheels AND can load lumber and logs at the TRS Lumber Mill?

Or, can anyone suggest a new set of bogies for the stock log wagon. OR, possibly an "alias" file to do this?

The TRS04 log wagon WORKS aok with logs AND lumber, but there doesn't seem be any newer asset on the DLS that can do BOTH functions.

The log wagon by "cjlear" will pick up TRS logs at the TRS Log Camp, but not lumber stacks at the TRS Lumber Mill. It will, of course pick up any number of "M-Log" products, but doesn't load anything at the lumber pick-up side of the lumber mill.

I've managed to swap-out new rolling bogies for all other rollingstock items I use, except the log wagon.

Thank you for any ideas you might like to share.

Regards,

Al

You might like to look at my Generic Flat Wagon <kuid:163033:30000>, which supports loads of both Auran's and cjlear's 20/40ft Container products, General Goods, Lumber and Logs. Though it does no have animated wheels, so that might be a minus to you. It's on the DLS if you want to try it.

These cars have rolling wheels and can load kuid:-3:10001 logs.
These are NG:
2NG Flatcar,<kuid:86661:15046>
36ga Skeleton 42ft PCF,<kuid2:86661:15049:2>
30NG Flatcar,<kuid2:86661:15052:1>
36ga Flatcar TRS v4,<kuid2:86661:15410:4>
36ga Skeleton 22ft Mich-Cal,<kuid2:86661:15430:3>
30in Skeleton Log Car,<kuid:181672:64883>

These are SG:

50ft up flatcar,<kuid:58422:100244>
BNSF Flat car 917504,<kuid:46162:15004>

Thank you both for the flatcar kuids! VERY MUCH appreciated !!!

I DL'ed a few of your listed items and will give them a try out.

The 50ft up flatcar,<kuid:58422:100244> does look to be the most promising.
Complicated, but promising!

To see what else can handle the builtin logs (kuid:-3:10001), start CM and set the Search Action Panel to Builtin - True, find and highlight Logs,<kuid:-3:10001> and select View Dependent Assets and then select View in main list.

Bob, THANKS for the info, but only use TR04 which doesn't have a CM. Tried TR06 and hated it bigtime! Not even thinking of going to 2010 either.

FWIW, I got <kuid:58422:100244> Flat car to work PERFECT in TRS2004 !! YES! FINALLY have ALL rollingstock with rolling wheels! The other kuids you mention, well only had partial success, crashes, no shows, etc.

BUT, I DID have to FIX this kuid some. Forgive me guys. One of the most bothersome things I've seen with locos and rollingstock is when you select them in surveyor, prior to placing them on a track, the image in the little "window", well it "spins" or shows the icon turning around in circles. Now, many may think this is normal and just place the item on the track, BUT when you select the "info" (?) tab on the item it shows there is TWO (2) of this item on the tracks. You know you ONLY have ONE of these trains on the track, but the info is showing TWO! Then, if you get curious where the second item is on the baseboard you select "Find object" and then you are taken off to somewhere on the layout, usually a corner to what appears to be an invisible traincar or loco! What the?!

The problem with these ghost trains is simple, but took me long hours to figure it out. The loco or traincar items have "art" folders and the problem is here. This folder has to have FOUR files in it as a minimum. Fixing it is easy enough, but you must ADD some files from perhaps a similar kuid and edit the files to match what is needed. In short, these 4 files must exactly MATCH the asset-file-name in the config file listing.

Some assets authors make their locos/rollingstock CORRECTLY by having the required FOUR files in the art folder, but some do not.

There were MANY times I became so frustrated because when I was driving a loco, the program would GO to the SECOND ghost asset instead of the real one! Took me YEARS to figure this out. NOW, to make ALL of my trains behave correctly have had to edit almost all of the kuids, at least the "art" folder items, making sure there were the 4 necessary files there. This ghost problem I think some of you have seen as well. Thing is, IF you DON'T fix this, then you leave your TRS program wide open for script errors, crashes, etc.

I wanted to post this in a seperate thread, but, well, here is a good a place as any.

About my layout, I have been working on my Auburn to Pasco, Wash layout over 5 years and it runs GREAT! I run 33 trains in about 33 sq miles of area, and all under "AI". It takes almost two hours for all locos to finish their jobs. And happy to say, it all runs perfect!

When I download a new loco/roll stock asset, the first thing I do is to check to see if it "spins" in the Surveyor window prior to placing it on a track. IF it spins, then the "art" folder files weren't made correctly. Many content creators would argue against all I've said here, but then I'd say they were just too lazy to make their content work correctly in the first place.

This "ghost" image problem drove me crazy for years, but now it doesn't have to drive you crazy anymore. By comparing the art folder files of a known, correctly made asset against the bad one, you will be able to fix the bad one in 5 minutes, but you will have to swap over some files from the good one. The only downside is the loco/rollstock "icon" will be that of the good asset.

Lastly, want all to know that I DO regret having to "EDIT" someone elses work and did resist the urge to do so, at first. But when there's only ONE of a certain asset you need to be found on the DLS, then you do what yo must to make it work.

Thank you Bob again for your kindness and help. The little "Flatcar UP 57059" car works perfect with Auran's lumbermill and "multiple-industry-basic".

Bye for now,
Al

Since you have TRS2004 you should use TrainzObject which has functions similar to CM. Select Rolling Stock and search the Products column for all cars that carry kuid:-3:10001.

Bob

Thank you again Bob,

I was able to swap out the Auran <kuid:-3:10001> logs into a Skeleton car that only would pick up "M-Log" logs in regular gauge. Now it picks up both!
