TRS 2010/2012--How to get to multiplayer?

Ok so I have TRS 2010 right now and I've not been in a multiplayer mode yet. How does one do that in TRS 2010? And is TRS 2012 offered in a steam-only version?

To answer both your questions:

TS2010 mutliplayer is available at builds 46170 and 49938 only.

I'm not fully understanding your second question, though. Can you explain that one?

If you mean is there a TS12 with Steam locos only then no there is not, saw your other post where you mentioned this, either another made up rumour or someone has confused the fact that TS12 is also available to purchase from Steam as in the Steam client Valve use to distribute games. Wherever you get TS12 from it has exactly the same content.
No idea about multiplayer I'm afraid as not interested in it.

1. TS2010 needs to be patched in order to use Multiplayer. If you look at the bottom right of the Launcher (where you select Start, Options, Content, etc) you will see a number. Please tell us this number. This is what Shane was referring to.

2. TS12 can be bought form Steam or directly from N3V Games. If you buy any version of Trainz from Steam, you won't be able to patch it and will encounter multiple compatibility problems, and you will only be able to use Multiplayer with other users with the Steam copy. If you buy from N3V Games, then you won't have any compatibility problems.

Also, TS2010 cannot join a Multiplayer session hosted by a TS12 user and vice versa.

In fact I probly did confuse the Steam service with the probability of a steam-only version of Trainz. Shane's already helped me out on the matter of patching; my copy is fully patched to the 49938 version. Funny thing is, you never know what Auran will think of next. Perhaps there may be a version of Trainz containing nothing but steam engines in the works. But exactly how do I run a multiplayer session in TRS 2010 with other TRS 2010 users? Or how do I join one for that matter?

It's a similar procedure to the TS12 version - details should be in the Multiplayer Talk forum.

Bear in mind though that you will only be able to do it with other TS2010 users who also have the Multiplayer Beta installed.
