Trigger Multiple Signals

If I use the trigger multiple signals rule, does the radius of the trigger have to encompass all signals being used under the rule, or is it sufficient for it to cover the point where the trigger is set off by the train?

the trigger can be anywhere even miles from the signal. It sends a message to the named signal no matter where that signal is.
