Tri-State Railroads: Phase I - The Port Jervis Line

Very nice pics Trainzpro. Will this route work in trainz 2009 soon? Where did you get that track?

Thanks. The route might work in 2009 since most of the content used is mainly from 2004/06, but I can't promise anything. As for the tracks, they're mine. If you look at my earlier posts, you can see some WIP shots of it. And no, it hasn't been released yet, so don't bother looking for it.;)

Which dependencies, if any, are not available on the TS12 DLS?

Also, when you get to the east side of the Hudson (Metro-North and Long Island Railroads), will you also plan on making the M-series EMUs?

Right now, I am working on the EOH lines, then long island railroad, penn station, amtrak's empire connection, NEC, new england railroad, CSX river line, and many more spurs within the tri state area. I made a small beta route of the Port Jervis line a while ago, but trainzpro has some really good shots of the PJL he made. :) I may redo the PJL since now I know how to use the basemaps for accurate scenery. Can't wait to see more pics trainzpro.:)

Good luck! Auran already has a good version of the Harlem Line for TC (maybe a few object placement bugs you'll want to sort out; also only goes Bronxville to Southeast), and there's a decent Hudson Line + GCT already on NYCTransit Forums (though several dependencies are exclusive to TS2004/06; only goes up to Croton-Harmon). Perhaps you can spruce those up and merge them?

When I got trainz classics about a year and a half ago, I extended the built in harlem line from bronxville down to botanical gardens, and from southeast, I extended it north to wassaic. I downloaded the hudson line.

So all you really need to do now is merge the maps and tack on the NH Line, the NEC from New Rochelle to the Hudson River Tunnel, and the Empire Connection. I'm at the edge of my seat right now, the New Haven Line is that one route that inspired me to purchase Trainz in the first place.

Will you be including the new Black Rock station (set to open in ~14 days)?

All of my past metro north routes that I made, I deleted a couple of months ago. The only one that I have left is my beta of the Port Jervis line. I don't plan on deleting that.

Not much of an update to the route itself. Just some more shots of Mahwah. ;)

I also started working on the Hoboken Terminal.

The station canopy and platforms...

...and the "COEN" barge that was previously used as the ferry boarding area, which is now at the newly renovated slips behind the main terminal building.

Of course, there will be more custom content soon. ;)

What tracks are those in the station shot? They look good. They don't look like Jointed Rail's, or anything on USLW.

Update

Hello. It's definitely been a minute since I last posted, but I just wanted to let everyone know that this project is not dead. It's just that life has been catching up with me and I haven't been able to mess around with Trainz as much. At this point, though, I have decided to redo the map for a couple of reasons: 1) the original route had way too many "leftover" baseboards, thus hampering performance (I solved this by using the "baseboard filter" in the HOG utility), and 2) I want to try limiting use of 3rd party content by using both default and my own custom content, which should help eliminate the need to hunt for missing KUIDs. This time, I'm building in TS12 to take advantage of newer features such as better lighting, performance, and the all-important "doppler effect" for my railfanning videos of the route. I just hope that I can still use my favorite Trunda trees in this version without any problems, although I hear that Pofig's "speedtrees" are also great.

Until then...

That is great. Glad to hear the route is still in progress. There is an alternative to Tundra's trees. On the DLS, search for the author (clam1952). The trees made by this author are fantastic as far as looks and performance goes.

Update 12/7/2013...

I'm proud to announce that work has finally commenced on rebuilding the TSRR project. This time, I'm starting in Hoboken since it will probably be the hardest part of the Phase 1 project that will represent the NJT/MTA's Port Jervis line.

WIP Hoboken Terminal

Took me about a week just to lay the tracks for the yard, and it's still not done!

Thank goodness for Google Earth. Otherwise, the tracks probably would've wound up in the Hudson River nearby! :p

As usual, I'll be keeping everyone posted as the route progresses.

Until then...

Nice work. I think too think it's a good idea to start on the termial station's because they are the most difficult to complete but once it's done, then it's easy street for the most part.

I started this route but never completed it. I have some of the line around Otisville and started Hoboken Terminal area. I used DEM from the DLS. Suffern north is available, but not most of the NJ portion except the metro NY area, I used Cross Harbor NY for that. How did your DEM get so off at spots? The DEM I have is seamless from Suffern north. I'm actually building to Binghamton. Do you know where I could get Suffern-Mahwah to Secaucus DEM? I could make it in TransDEM.

I forget how I did it, I wasn't aware it was faulty. I'm using Trainz 12 and it works right now. The other guy's route, is it dead? Mine I didn't get very far. I'm interested in this route because I want to run steam excursions on it with 614 and 765. It will go from Hoboken to Binghamton. But, mine won't have the custom structures that the other route has. For Hoboken canopies I used the CNJ ones by Magicland, they look similar.
