Tree shadows in tunnels??

I have to start off by saying that I am working on my first layout using the 5m squares. What a difference! Hills are so much smoother!

However, I don't know if this is because of the 5m or not, but I see tree shadows inside of tunnels! The trees that are above the tunnels cast their shadows inside the tunnel! (This is a tunnel that I have used many times w/o issues. I even tried a couple of other ones and still have the same issue. Any fix?

That sounds like a bug to me. Report that to the helpdesk.

I don't know about anyone else, but I totally shun 5m grid, and will never use it, I heard it can cause problems ?

My tunnels are so dark inside, that only a headlight beam, very slightly, illuminates it.

The 5 meter grid works well if your computer can handle it due to the 4x the amount of memory needed to load that much data. The results of it are truly amazing when it comes to smoothing terrain.

The only problems we've had with it is upgrading already textured baseboards to 5 meter grid-spacing. This can cause textures to become blocky along the grid borders.

I can’t see how the ground grid spacing can be involved. Instead, I wonder if PhysX or post-processing can affect the behaviour of shadows? If so, what setting stops shadows rendering below the ground grid?

I've use 5m boards ever since TS2009 never had any problems, neither the grid or PhysX has anything to do with shadows, no tree shadows in tunnels here, I presume the tunnels are using tunnel track? That may be an issue.

Failing that what build of TRS19 are you using?

Problem solved (kinda) thanks to the Help Desk team. It seems as though you cannot run the "Shadow" quality on "low". Anything above "low" and the tunnels are fine, but on "low" you get sunlight and shadows shining through. Why? Dunno.

I set the quality to low because this was a 30 base layout literally covered with trees over 95% of it. Running the shadow quality on high really did not look any different than on low because of so many trees and everything being pretty much in tree shadows. So, I had lowered the quality and picked up about 15 FPS in the process.
