Tree availability

I`m building a route thet will be released as freeware. I am using Pofig`s trees. Can I include them in my route and allow others to download them, or there is a copyright problem? If yes, can I use the Ultra Treez series as an alternative?

It's not a copyright problem you are likely to face, but an availability problem, as Pofig has stopped creating trees (and may have removed his current ones) due to an issue involving certain Russian users (one of which got banned from uploading content to the Download Station).

So if I post a link in my site, redirectiong to a page where the trees are available for download, there is no problem, right?

As you probably know Pofig's trees are still available here: http://429786.ucoz.com/load/0-9 and as long as you give a reference to this site in the description of your route people should be able to get them provided as with all 3rd party content nothing happens to the site or the content in the future.

edit John514 - we posted at the same time so I would say yes to your question.

That's normally fine, yes.

The only time it's not is if the version you are using in your route is an illegitimate clone of another asset, like the Bort85 versions.

Pofig is perfectly happy for a route creator to distribute a route-specific tree pack along with any new route - in fact for bandwidth reasons he prefers that method!

The pack MUST be distributed from a third-party site though, the trees CANNOT be put on the DLS....
