TRC Wig Wag Reggies

He shutdown his website and moved on with life.

You can try this, payware won't work.

Are there wig wags on the DLS? There are some sites that have shut down though and even Wayback can't get to the files like Trainz Pro Routes (required login), Control Point Simulations, The Backshops, etc. I guess in that situation you are simply plain out of luck. I have the Maine Central Crawford Notch (Conway Scenic now) and Muskanippee Valley routes from CPS in 19, I got them when the site was active.

Another great example of new users who never had the chance to download nonDLS stuff that is now gone or even older users who didn't get around to downloading it while it was available.

Yes, and what if people used that content in routes? Then new downloaders will have missing crossing signals that will have to be manually replaced because the orignals are no longer available, especially the payware ones. I think the few freeware ones could be downloaded through Wayback archive. There are so many defunct Trainz sites, like TPR, Control Point Simulations (but some of the content is on another site but not the routes which I have), The Backshops (some content at Approach Medium), and more. I had so much trouble finding assets for routes I downloaded because the route creators used stuff from now defunct sites and some of the content isn't even downloadable on Wayback. Then what do you do? How do you replace unknown kuid's when you don't even know what kind of asset they are, all you know is the author's name and the kuid number?

That's the breaks, unfortunately. Content websites disappear due to various reasons including copyright violations.

But the way Auran or N3V made Trainz you can't easily replace unknown kuid's so that a new asset will replace the missing one in the route. Like if there is a missing tree, and you can't seem to find a download, or the tree is faulty then you have to do a workaround which involves temporarily making a clone and replacing the bad or missing asset in surveyor with a good one.

They said they are working on that. It's low priority though and who knows when we'll see the results.
