How can I garantee that tranz will use all the free memory before going to the disc for content. This causes hesitation durring train running, very
annoying. I have 1.5 gb of memory. Robert Graves aka rrbobby

Which version of Trainz are you running? There is a Trainzoption.txt line of half the system memory

-ResourceMemory=1536

there are other options you can put in here as well to improve perforamce on the earlier versions of Trainz.

By the way if you are running XP then 2.5 gigs or more of memory is better.

That one has me baffled, too, John. After 20+ years of PCing, I've never heard of that one before.

Try increasing your paging file. Virtual memory is very important.

If you have the hard drive space, I really recommend the program be run completely from the hard drive.

Maybe he's talking about the option you get when you intall some programs or games which lets you choose just how much to install to the hard drive and what to run off the CD. I don't know if this even applies to Trainz or most newer games.

I don't understand your comment, perhaps you could clarify?

Strangely enough I've been around computers for forty years now and having been involved in the specification of computers etc. I have a fairly good understanding of hardware. What I don't understand is Skrogsgorks's post. It makes no sense to me and if it makes no sense to me then others may find it difficult to follow as well.
