Transfering Locomotives from TR2006 to TR12

Hello all,

Is it possible to transfer content from TRS2006 to trs 2012? There are a few locomotives that I cannot find anywhere and I know they are in TRS 2006. If so, how? Thanks in advance.

First, there is a TS12 forum and TRS2006 forum, so those folks would know best. For TRS2004 to TS12, I use the contentdispatcher.exe. Not sure if this was incorporated into '06 Content manager or if it was still a separate program like in '04. Basically you export the loco and its dependencies to a .cdp file, then import that file into the TS12 content manager. The standards between the two are notable, so you may get some warnings or errors. In general, Trainz has gotten less and less tolerant to deviations from "correct" asset creation as time goes on. What was acceptable in '06 may not fly in '12. You have to deal with whatever pans out. If you are lucky, the assets have been updated to TS12 level (build version 3.5 to 3.7), look at all versions of each asset in the TS12 content manager for updates. Do not download anything above version 3.7, it is for later Trainz releases.

You export the locos out of TRS2006 to CDPs and import the CDPs into TS12.

Hi John, I skipped over TRS2006. Was the content dispatcher still a stand-alone executable or had it been incorporated in the CM? (I mentioned to our friend that he might have to look for it as contentdispatcher.exe).

I believe that has been integrated into TRS2006 and up. I used it once in TRS2004 and it was pretty obtuse!

I might be wrong but I thought every built-in item from earlier versions were uploaded to the DLS. Of course, you would have to be a registered user to access the DLS. I downloaded Northbay County route and all its assets from the DLS into TS12.
