Transfer assets from TRS2006 to TS2010?

Hi,

A while ago I was working on a route (I was reworking Toronto Rail Lands into something else) in TRS2006.

Is there a way to import TRS2006 built in assets into TS2010? Will that even work given the games are several years apart?

That's what they said about Trainz 2009 and when i imported a track into it there were bridges, textures, and trains all missing, and they were all built-in TRS2006 content.

Actually narrowguage seems to me right. All of the assets are already built in according to CM in TS2010. Weird that I could not see them in assets list in Surveyor.

I don't want to discourage anyone, but I tried to import CDP files of TRS2006 locos into TRS2009, and they didn't work because the 06 mesh was not compatible with 09.

TS10 has new filter system in Surveyor that comes enabled. I thought I lost a few of the things I imported but favorites was set to 5 stars or something and they didn't show up till I changed that.

Well actually for example the CN Dwarf signals are listed in CMP but they do not show in Surveyor.

Similarly MP Overgrown track which I used along with MP Wood (which isnt there and was replaced by Auran's default track - big pain because of the high poly count) also isnt listed by Surveyor. I cannot find it in the list I have to use the Get tool on existing track to select it and lay down more.

If you all remember Toronto Rail Lands with Aurans new high poly track can be quite a pain.

Yes, the new filter is on when you open the track tool flyout in Surveyor. The cnr dwarf signals don't show at all in the trackside list there but they are listed in CM.

In Surveyor if I click the filter button at top right of the track panel the filter dialog opens on the left side. Ratings filter is set to 5 stars. If I turn that filter off the dwarf signals show up in the tackside list. If you go into Surveyor options on the file menu and then select Surveyor settings you can untic the "show only favorites" box (or something like that) and not have to redo this every time you open Surveyor.

I didn't see the MP-overgrown listed in CM or the trackside list in Surveyor. If you installed it yourself then it probably won't show unless you change the filter setting in Surveyor like I said. I had that happen with the content I imported myself.

Yeah I saw that as well. Time to relay miles of track.

I hope you don't mean manually. This can be done easily using the replace asset feature located under the file menu. Simply drag the item from the list that you want to replace into one bucket, and put the replacement item in the other bucket. Click replace and everything is done for you. There's no need to hand replace any track other than bridges if you want.

Oh my gosh I was just going to ask about that this is great!

What are you talking about, the objects or the map itself? I've never had any issue with bringing a map forward to a newer version. Bringing it back to an older version is a bit of a pain but doable in most cases.

As for objects, sure, the config files often need some updating and only if PM meshes are used is there an issue. These need to be converted to IM types. Easy to do thanks to PEV.

2010 works fine for me

JCitron & Martinvk are right. I received Trainz 2010 a week ago, with the latest build, so no downloading patches, and it's been working fine. I had been working on a route in 2006 for about six months, saved it and a load of 2006 content, locos, rolling stock, and buildings, to CDPs. Imported it all into the new machine and program with only three problems. Yes, I had to do some work fixing some assests, but the programs from PEV are great. I am having to run this route in compatability mode because of the errors in one item of rolling stock, hot slag car from Maddy25, that's needed for the steel mill. If I don't use that item, I can run the 2006 route in native mode fine.
I've seen a lot of posts on the forum complaining about Trainz 2010, and wonder what their problem is. "Knock on wood", I haven't had any yet.
