Trams again?

PTram seems to be back at it's original location now. Sorry for the mix up - but the new site worked for about a day...

Also I notice that tdstead has released his Westhaven Destination Sign Textures. I'll do mine soon - honest!

And thanks for Westhaven 7 BidMod - I'm downloading as I type. I'd never noticed any problems with Motorman's trams on the route, but I'd not noticed that they were much longer...

Is that diesel powered? It looks it (by the grills), wheras the loco MW is building is electric. I have a (poor) photo of the real thing somewhere so you can see what I mean... hang on a minute

This was used by the Blackpool tramway (hence the bogey green colour)

I'ev got a good shot of the crest from another tram if you want it, but I guess you've already got one.

For those large tram layout builders in the UK something for you to think about.
(posted on another thread)

After having a lot of trouble trying to run 9 trams on my W'Gabba tram routes I have now been reduced to having Driver sessions on individual routes (not on all routes in the map at the same time).

Having checked the following route was supprised at the result.
This may just put you off making driver sessions.

The Salisbury Route has 54 tram stops, that is for a round trip (City to Salisbury and return) which means a minium of two driver commands (drive to and Load) for every stop for EACH tram;that does not include any "drive via track mark";Reverse tram;change destination sign;or "Wait for Time" commands required.
So you can expect to have the numbers of commands for each tram used on this route to exceed 125.
I have 6 trams allocated for this route, which is a total of 750 commands.
No wonder the AI struggle's to cope.

During the war years (1940s) I used to see a little tram loco very much like this one. We used to travel by train from Edinburgh to Southampton quite frequently and this was one of the first things to attract me on arrival in Southampton. It used to pull a train of coal wagons from the yard at Southampton Central, across the road and into the power station. This was far more exciting than meeting grandparents and all that sort of stuff.

Of course I was very young at the time and cannot be certain of the details of the vehicle in question. However, seeing this photograph immediately took me back sixty years! Thanks for posting it.

This tramshed has the supports to suit 6.4m tramwire - are people interested in a release? Obviously this shot was taken in GMax - it looks better in the game itself. The ceiling of the building is wooden boards, but just looks too dark in this shot.

I will also add that the reason it isn't too brilliant is because this is my first model.

Peter - the electric loco that Mike is recreating is restored at Crich - I'd recommend a visit. :) I don't actually know what they were doing with it at the time I took the photo though - I wonder if Crich use it for rescuing stricken trams if there's a problem?

Hi all,

Has anyone made any "toastrack" style trams for this sim? I did a quick Google search and found a Melbourne example, which could be made suitably generic for use elsewhere in the world. I use a 6.4m wire, but there is no reason a 5.6m version couldn't be build and converted.

Hi Bidmod.

You could check out Bearcat's Sydney Trams.
I think <63971:3041> could fit the bill.

Hi there

Only thing is the Bearcar Toastracks Never got passenger enabled

There is 4W car class H
Bogie Car class M

But he does have Closed Crossbench cars of 2 classes at least Sydney clases LP, P that are paseenger enabled and One With open end cross bench and centre enclosed Sydney class O, O class 1187 is at the Oregon Electric Railway Society.

If its for a tourist route and you need a open car and not really have to be a toast rack search for "OPEN CAR" comes in both wire heights

Hope this helps

Tom

Both my H and M now take people and have quite a few up dates, only problem is the DLS will not let me load them up as it seem to not like them.

Send private e-mail and will get the updates soon

apparently there is a way to passenger enable stock without having to change the original mesh. You can also add goods to freight stock in the same way

see teddytoots advice in this thread
sorry link refuses to work it's in the content creation and support forum in a thread entilted industry enabling rollingstock

How many times do I have to post this. Use the mesh table facility of TRS. Create an add-on mesh consisting of a a small textured cube or plane (for Trainz to recognise the GMax export) and the required attachment point(s). Then amend the config file to include the mesh and the necessary queues for your loads be it goods, drivers, cabviews or passengers

Hi BidMod,

You mean like these:

They are a comin'. Because of the open platforms and interior, I am still contemplating how to finish the cab view so all the secrets of simulation won't be on display in Driver.

The twelve bench Brill's both clerestory and arch roof models are still on the drawing board.

Cheers
