Hi All,
got trainz 2010 EE for xmas, as many did. Installed it with no issues. When i ran the program i got an error window stating that " Auran trainz launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close" blah blah blah. I tried to run as an admin etc, uninstalled it and reinstalled it in admin mode etc but to no avail. Running 7, Nvidia 9800 GT, 4 Gb ram AMD X2 dual core 5400+

Please help :'(

OK - as I'm not a TS2010 user, someone else may be able to advise further, as I have a feeling it's graphics card related.

Also, check whether you have the latest DirectX files installed, which will be needed.

hiya

i seem to remember that AMD dual core`s had some sort of timing problem and that there is a fix for them on the net somewhere hope this helps

Not much to go on here; have you registered the game? Apparently not. Why not? Couldn't get that far, or don't have a valid number? Is the PC on the internet? Have you tried running in DirectX or OpenGL? Try the other? What did you diagnostic test report?

are you on medication? :hehe:

I only have 1 option to start the program. "launch TS2010"- start button-all programs-Auran-TS2010-launch TS2010. Nothing more. When i do this under all modes, i get the error message.
I have the latest video drivers etc

I guess we don't know how far you get...do you get the main menu at all (with Start, Manage Content, Options, etc.)? If so, you can try going into Options to try switching between DirectX and OpenGL, as Euphod suggested.

If you can't even get that far, try going into the TS2010 folder, the bin subfolder, and run Trainzdiag to see if it finds a problem with any of your hardware.

Versions

Just make sure that the version is the very latest, and also it runs a little test the first time for installing the game. MAKE SURE that none of these say Failed. Warning is ok

There is - the AMD Dual Core Optimizer.

For some reason, AMD have removed or moved it from their site, so you may need a third-party download site.

I did put the serial No. into the game. I have tried running the trainzdiag but that fails as well. I am running a dual boot so tried the same settings with XP and i am getting the same error messages. Looks like Trainz doesn't like my setup. Will try a few other settings before i try Railworks 2 :'(

I am also having the exact same problem where when clicking to laucnh the game it comes up with the appilcation failed to launch message and has to close so am unable to even start the game up :(

I have tryed uninstalling and reinstalling and updating device drivers on my graphics card and directX is up to date as well

system spec

Vista 32 bit OS
Intel core duo 3.00GHz
2GB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 7800 GT

In all these various posts by others (adding to the OP), it seems as if there might be a permissions problem. In Vista and Win 7 if the game was not installed as Administrator, the folders (and some files) don't have enough permissions to be run by the game.

This is especially true if the game was installed NOT as an administrator, but then trying to run it "As Admisitrator".

I would make sure you are logged on as Administrator and then go to the install folder and right-click it. Choose Properties and to go the Security tab. Go through each user and make sure that everyone has Full Privileges to that folder and it's sub-folders.

In some cases, it might be necessary to uninstall it, and then reinstall As Administrator (and make sure to turn off your anti-virus).
