UTC is almost 10 years old. It may not work with WIN 7 no matter what mode you use. Perhaps a WIn7/UTC user, if any exist can provide some insight. UTC works just fine with XP. I am holding on to my XP, SP3 as long as I can.

Thank you for your reply. After doinf a uninstall/reinstall and setting to run in Windows XP SP 2, it runs fine. I find running in DCC mode esaier to run that in full cab mode. Now I just need to learn how and what to download for locos and consists, and hoe to install them.

Not trying to sound rude, but why would you want to run UTC which came out in 02 rather than TRS2006 SP1 which came out in 05/06???
UTC is crap compared to 06. Personally, when I got the "Trainz Ultimate Collection" back in 06, I chucked UTC & 04 disks straight in the bin. (06 runs well in Windows 7 - 32 & 64 bit).
Note; this post is not meant to offended you in anyway. I apologies if it does...
Cheers, Mac...

How can you "sound" rude when you are typing? :hehe: I'm not trying to sound rude either, but isn't that his business? Perhaps their was a reason for him to chose UTC over other versions.

UTC is crap compared to 06.
All have their good and bad points over the different versions. UTC was able to go to the back of a train a lot quicker when you wanted to move from the front.

TRS 04 and later version offer industry & passenger unloading/loading.
Even (cough ur cough ur cough) TS2010 offers over TRS2004 the ability to be like the show Bewitched & move around and to add/delete stops - while in pause mode. TRS2004, while you can add stops while in pause mode, you can't move around while in pause, and to make sure the extra instruction was added/deleted, you had to unpause it for a few minute
Meatloaf, are you operating an earlier operating system?

But I think MKH2010 answered his own question when it worked in compatibilty.

Perhaps he bought it because he believed the advert. UTC is still being sold new here in UK.

In my dictionary "ultimate" means the best and so could be assumed to be superior to TRS2004, TRS2006 & TS2010 - at least that was my assumption when I bought it. Come September 1st there are going to be some people who are very very p'd off with N3V/Auran when they find themselves in the same boat.

Selling it new is actually the correct wording to use, as it may be old, but is new until the product is brought.

In UTC and versions before, that is correct, as stocks & stock parts support under Australia's TPA are supposedly to remain available for seven years after the product comes out. This does not mean that the retailer may have stocks left, they may and quite often do not.

And the company that you brought the product must provide support for as long as the warranty (or implied warranty) lasts. So say a person buys TRS2004 today, and if a fault is found (& proven to be fault, that is not the fault of the customer through mishandling) then that customer as a right to discuss either a repair, refund or exchange, and you take it to the retailer. If you purchase say TRS2004 (or ANY) version of Trainz direct from Auran, and if their product has been proven to be found faulty (within the warranty period/implied warranty period), then the customer has the right to do the same thing, as the contract then is with the customer and Auran has to fix (and supply support) the the situation with that customer, while under the warranty period. If a customer buys TRS2004 (or UTC) as examples after September direct from Auran, then Auran must provide support for the warranty period/implied warranty period.

Please note that this is for products brought in Australia, & may differ for outside Australia.

I should have correctly stated that UTC was purchased for me. I was quite surprised to find out the the price was US$10.00. It appears that UTC is the only Train Sim that I seem to be able to run. I have Windows 7 64 bit Home. Neither BVE 2 or BVE 4 will run, and I can't run OpenBVE because one of the required dependencies does not support 64 bit.

You say that but recently, for some weird reason it's kicked into life for me (OpenBVE) even though as you said, one of the dependency's apperantly doesn't support 64bit so it didn't work until I tried using it yesterday on my win7 system

Phil

MKH2010,

When you installed OpenBVE, did you follow the instructions relating to the dependencies on http://openbve.trainsimcentral.co.uk/use/download_windows.html?

If not, then expect problems.

In relation to UTC, running UTC on a later OS may require some changes (admin mode, compatibility etc)

P.S. To other members: Apologies if this is off-topic, I am simply responding to a comment made by the member name mentioned at the top of this post.
