Does anyone know if Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 will run on Windows Vista? The system requirements state that Windows 1998/ME/2000/XP is required. TIA

TRS2006 on Vista

I have TRS2006 on my Vista-equipped laptop, and it runs just fine, if you don't count Content Manager Plus/Download Station, although I don't think the troubles associated with those are operating system related.

It is possible. Search the forum for more information, it was created before Vista was so if you have Vista TS2010 probably is more Vista friendly.

Vista/Trainz

Everthing runs great on Vista: TRS2006, TC, CMP, DLS, Paintshed...etc...etc...If you have problems on a Vista PC (or any PC for that matter)...it is your PC settings, antivirus and firewall blocking things, causing errors and crashes.

There is nothing wrong with Trainz, or Vista.
You should have @ 2Gb RAM and 500MB Hard Drive with a upgraded video card

Vista has an option to switch the compatibility for certain programs. That's what I did for windows 7 and it works fine.

Trainz 2006 runs in any version of Vista, 32 or 64 bit. Even CMP and CCP run without problems. Here is the picture to proove it, taken on my laptop:

Ironically (not that I understand it), TRS2006 runs better on my laptop with Vista... than it does on my higher spec desk station with XP.

The only thing that will be different if you use Vista or Windows 7 instead of XP or earlier is that you will need to install and run the program as an administrator (to run it as an administrator, right click the shortcut for the game, and either click Run as Administrator or click Properties, then Advanced, then Run as Administrator (this may appear under the Compatibility tab as well)
