I recently totally updated my computer, including windows 7 64 bit operating system, and a Nvidia gts 250 graphics card etc. Now trainz 2006 will not work. When i press the start button to start the game all i get is a black screen and my computer stops working and i have to reboot it. I even set the game to operate in windows xp format but with no success. Any ideas whats causing theproblem and how to fix this issue. Thanks

Run as administrator?
Do other games run ok? Is the PSU big enough (output) to power the system with some to spare.

I musy agree with Baureihe41 here. I have 09 installed into the 64 bit program files folder and it runs without any issues. If you have Win 7 Professional or Ultimate, you could always run it in XP Mode.

I reinstalled 06 last night on win7 64bit on my "E" drive & the only problem I found was it refused to install net 1.1 from the disk ( incompatible ) but just cancelled it & the game runs fine.

i have my trainz06 installed on D drive but it also installed .net v1.1 i wonder if that is the problem

Trainz 2010 is not working to me also. Win 7 Ultimate x64
Run as Admin and xp mode doesn't working either.
Im very dissapointed with this as I can't find any solution for this.

I have TS2010 running nicely under Win 7 64 bit mode. TRS2006 was created before Win 7 which might make life a bit more complex.

I have TS2010 running on Win7-64 Professional.

A suggestion: Start Trainz and choose "Options" from the menu. Check the "video display settings" in the Options menu. Make sure the resolution shown is supported by your monitor and video card. Whenever I update my video driver, for some reason these settings get messed up and either the game won't start or it will crash because of it.

You might try switching between OpenGL and DirectX and see what happens as well. Be sure to check that you have DirectX installed if that's what you intend to use. I don't know that Win7 installs all versions of it automatically.

Compatability of 2010 with Windows 7

I'm new to the installation problems being talked about here for TRS2010 and Windows 7. I have a new laptop and desktop, both running windows 7. I see numerous complaints that TRS2010 will run on 7. Isn't anyone getting advice from Trainz support say about this - their silence in this forum is deafining. Are they of much help to you experienced folks out there? I'm now wondering whether I should upgrade to TRS2010 if there's a good chance it won't run and I won't be able to get proper support? I am running TRS2006 on XP with no problems and would like to continue in this fashion.

The desktop shouldn't be a problem. The early problems with Trainz TRS2004 etc running on different hardware was usually down to the quality of the hardware drivers. These days the drivers are much better and more stable.

The problem with any lap top is fundamentally they are designed to save power or battery drain not for SIM performance. Mont do a reasonable job and have good quality drivers some aren't so good.

my one (trs2009) just doesn't open. It does the usual thing; 'do you want this program to make changes to this computer', i then click yes. then nothing happens. the launcher just won't open. slender & sims 3 runs fine, just trainz won't. somebody help cos i have got 1 and a half years of work on there.

TS2010 definitely works on Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. I recommend NOT installing it in C:\Program Files OR C:\Program Files (x86). These two folders are heavily read/write protected in Windows 7.

lukemorreau - welcome to the forums.

Relating to your issue, sometimes Trainz can take a few minutes to load the Launcher due to the background processes. I would also suggest double-checking the full thread before bumping it in future in order to keep it on-topic.

Scottbe8 - not sure if you're aware, but your response seems to be related to a thread started in 2010, although I know you did not bump the thread.
