Trainz for Mac crashes

Hey all,

I just installed Trainz for Mac, but has been repeatedly crashing my computer. I have noticed there are some trainsets (but not all) that appear as black squares when you select the trains you want to run, and I don't know if that has anything to do the game crashing the computer.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Firstly, you need to register your game - click Serial Number above and follow the instructions.

Secondly, can you post the following:

Processor
Memory (size)
Hard Drive (size)
Graphics card
Version of Mac OS

It may do, but I do not know if TS Mac supports that option.

We will hopefully have an idea when the OP has done what I have requested in my earlier post.

Shane, here ya go...

Processor Name: 2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Hard Drive Capacity: 232.57 GB
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X1900 XT
Mac OS X Version 10.5.8

OK, once you have registered your serial number, we can proceed.

It appears that your case is very different from others I've seen recently, as the others have had Nvidia cards.

It may be worth having a looking in the Trainz Mac forum (once you have registered your serial number) to see if there is anything similar - meanwhile I will see if I've seen anything similar.

I know I couldn't even play the game at first without putting in a license code, if that's what you mean. I downloaded the game from Macgamestore.com and they gave me a license code to punch in and after I did that, the game started up and subsequently crashed a few times...

You will need to register the same code using the Serial Number option above, so that N3V can validate that you have a valid copy.

Also, according to what I've just read, you will need to visit the Apple support website for drivers for your ATI card.

Shane

Good - that now means you can access the Trainz Mac forum, which may contain solutions to your issue.

Meanwhile, I will have a look for drivers on the Apple site.

You are now 2 versions behind on MacOS FYI. I suspect (but Auran will need to confirm) that TS Mac was mostly developed on 10.6. You probably want to upgrade the OS if you can just to resolve any potential driver and API issues.

I never thought of that. I figured since it needed at least 10.5 that I would be ok. I downloaded it on one of my Mac laptops which had 10.6, oddly enough, and it didn't crash, but it really slow and laggy.

Hey Mike,

Don't know if that'll fix it for sure, but it's the only way to get updated video drivers since Apple doesn't usually release them separately.
