Trainz-build numbers below 3.7 are no longer supported....

And rightly so...

This is the last time I will give any money to them via a Kickstarter or purchase. They lost me as a customer. When a company starts driving away its longtime customers, it's time to give them a boot. To me it's a sign of other things going on that we're not privy to and those things aren't good.

John

I'm with you 100% on that, John. If and when I start Trainz/TANE again, it will be only offline (I saw your validation woes post earlier). I'm not letting N3V control what happens on my PC. :(

Hey smiley,

No Tony... Chris... No one has, except one!

Unless I missed a post, etc!

I guess it's difficult to control an erupting volcano, after the fact!

Take Care now, sir!
Ishie

You named him. :)

I was being a bit snarky. :D

If this is the case, then maybe I should be heading back to the MC community? At least they listen to there customers for the most part.

I haven’t read all of the posts in this thread, so if someone has already pointed this out I apologize. What I find curious (to say the least) is that , while 3.7 is now the minimum “supported” version of Trainz, SimulatorCentral continues to offer earlier versions of Trainz for sale. Not only is there no indication that they are no longer supported, the description for TS2009 says “… More content will be released over time…” – undoubtedly true when it was written, but not tonight when I was reading it. Guys I don’t like what you’re doing, but if that’s what you think you have to do to stay in business I will try respect that decision. That’s very difficult to do that when you continue to market products whose content that you tell us are no longer acceptable. It either is or it isn’t – make up your mind.

Selling versions of the program that are unsupported?

That doesn't seem kosher.

Will be interesting to see if these versions are removed from Simulator Central and sale, or if they continue being sold and large warning is added to the description about them being unsupported AND having to buy a FCT to get any content from the DLC...

It's quite correct to say “… More content will be released over time…”. The only thing that has changed is that it won't be released through the DLS. That means a bit more trouble finding the content, but at least it avoids the intrusive and annoying Simulator Central advertising, and the clunky download procedure.

Fair to say I won't be throwing AUS$400 at N3V again.

As Trainz is being run purely as a commercial venture, it's time to treat it as such.

I disappear for a week and the sky starts falling down. In fact, this time last year I stood at Everest Base Camp just before midday on April 25th - this year I was in the mountains of Bali and avoided a real-life "the sky is falling" moment when the Nepal earthquake triggered an enormous avalanche that killed 18 people at Base Camp - a few hundred meters from where I stood last year.

I am now back on board and we are reviewing the policy and decisions that have been made. Barring unforeseen events, there will be a complete statement made in the next day or two.

I can assure you their intention is not to knock down any sky supports...that said, since we apparently fail to communicate, here is the internal process we are undertaking:

Step 1: Evaluate the key issues being raised (this would be far easier if people didn't keep bringing non-core issues into the discussion)
Step 2: Work out a response
Step 3: Communicate the response
Step 4: Implement steps to rectify anything immediately broken and things that are easy to fix
Step 5: Put in place longer term procedures to avoid further sky-falling events
Step 6: Put in place longer term solutions to provide overall improvements to existing systems

Good on you Tony to clarify this, lets hope you will come to the right decision.

Cheers
