trainz 2009 or rail sim?

i will jump in here. Yes, there are many locos you can download or you get with TS09,

BUT

you get only 1 in the new quality. Everything else could require you to run it in compatibility mode.

Sorry but quality wise as far as I am aware there is nothing available in TRS2009 for rolling stock and locos that is not available for say TC3.

I have TC3 content with normal mapping on the DLS I've been unable to determine anything available in TRS2009 that is not available quality wise in the lower versions.

There is a new way to do lod but even lod is available for lower versions.

Technically I like TRS2009 but I've yet to see anything content wise that could not be done in TC3.

There are plenty more free locomotives available for RS/RW. Take a look at UK TrainSim for example.

American steam is basically non-existent on RS/RW. What is available is MSTS re-works and is not very good.

Well, you are right "technically" for TC3, but lets face some facts that will interest the one who asked:

- TS09WBE contains only 1 new loco, with the "targeted" polycount and texture resolution (=what i meant with quality).
- on the DLS we have 26 locos atm for TS09, most of them reskins
- on the DLS, if he buys TS09, he can download from all versions, and "could" then be required to run them in compatibility mode

Thats what i said, nothing more, nothing less. I have no reason to bash TS09 as i like it, but i wanted to be more precise then jadebullet.
