Trainz 2006 and Google Earth.

Is there any way to chop and change, between Trainz 2006 and Google Earth, without having to shut Trainz down every time.

I only have the one computer so cannot run both programs alongside each other.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Regards. Alan.

Why don't use Alt and TAB keys on your keyboard and switch between Trainz and Google Earth, hold alt down and press tab.:)

You could always do what i did buy a 2en 20 in LCD monitor have google earth running on monitor 2 and trainz running on the main monitor than the only thing you need to do is turn your head.

i also use it to get the details on my meshes correct.

if you dont' have the cash for anouther moniter than u can eather run trainz in window mode (anoing if you have a low screen rez) or do what AHSAN said and alt + Tab out of the program (low end computers sometimes have a hard time switching from trainz to other programs and back)

Google Earth & 2004/2006
Take a look at this.http://www.rolandziegler.de/StreckeUndLandschaft/startseiteTransDEMEngl.htm
I have just got it and it saves a massive amount of repetitive work when route constructing. you can download from GE directly into Trs via TransDEM.
Well worth the very low price.
Cheers
Pete.

AHSAN. Exactly what I was after. Many thanks.

Dylanview. Not suitable for my circumstances, but thanks all the same.

jadebullet. I fail to see what your reply has to do with my request.

Pete. Just missed you with my original reply so thank you for your suggestion. I already use TransDEM for laying out my route and, as you say, it is an excellent program and well worth the price.

I am now in the process of adding scenery etc. and find it a great help to repeatedly refer to Google Earth.

Hi Alan
As I said I've only just got TransDEM, so I'm not fully use to it yet, but can't you use overlays from Google Earth in Trs to help you place the scenery accurately.
As I said, I'm only at the experimental stage with TD, but I'm sure I read in the documentation about overlays although I haven't tried this yet.
Cheers
Pete.

Have Google Earth running and TRS2006, then when you want to look at GE press the Windows button on your keyboard to Minimize Trainz. When you have finished looking, click the Trainz tab to restore it.

Pete. Thanks for coming back on that one. Like you, I haven't gone too deep into TransDEM and used Streetmap to obtain tiles. If I feel more adventurous I will give it a go straight from GE on my next route.

lewisner. Thanks also for your assistance. As with Alt-Tab, it also works a treat. I think my activities in Trainz would be made much easier if I knew how to use a computer.

Regards. Alan
