Trains pulling up close to Buffers?

Hi all can someone please tell me if they have found a way of getting the AI to pull up to bufferstops placed at terminous stations as I can't find a way and it driving me up the wall. Thanks in advance for any help given :)

Leave the buffer stop where it is and gradually extend the track using invisible track with an invisible signal until they stop where you want.

Not triied that will give that a go thanks for the tip :) Invisible signals I have tried to no workie :(

Hi Fran,

I've used that trick but I've never been able to make it work with at least one ready made station terminus.

Whilst it's possible to attach tracks at the open end of the terminus there seems no way to do it at the buffer end because there is no track spine vertex.

Is there a work around?

Yaas goon techernical on me:confused:. It was the only idea I could think of casper.

Are you able to insert a spline vertex on the track before the buffer?

Only outside of the station on a piece of new track added to vertex that does work. It seem impossible to place a vertex point on the track area supplied with the terminus asset.

Instead of connectin track to the terminus track use invisible track and place a MIN for passengers extending the track a short spell after the terminus buffers and a actual signaled buffer at the end out of view will work fine., let alone be a little more work but your results should be satisfactory.

Dave =)

Might be worthwhile to attach as lead ins to the terminus, but that will probably hose the platform operations.

Hopefully this will help Joe_T.

It's late here now so I won't be trying this out before closing down for the night. I'll have a go later.

Thanks for the help so far and to Joe for raising the query.

The train will pretty much always stops the same distance from a buffer.

Take the buffer of choice and edit it to be a kind "scenery" item, not a kind "mosignal".
You will be able to place the scenery buffer anywhere you like. Then from behind the
placed buffer, use invisible track to extend the active track. Now comes the hard part.
Place an invisible buffer or invisible signal at the end of the invisible track. Just where
this will be place is the tough part. You'll have to play with it to get the distance from
the scenery buffer to the invisible signal so the train stops before hitting the buffer.

It'll work but takes a bit of fooling around.

If the problem is a station using built-in track, then if mine are anything to go by there should be a spline point at the terminus end and I have also included one of the 'fixed track' red arrows, at least on the ones I've just checked.

Never check out buffers but do they have radises like switches & track marks if so you could change that. I would change it to 00.10.

Possible solution?

Good morning everyone.

Here’s the terminus which caused the conundrum for me. Station Terminus 8t <kuid2:1942:28174:2>

Spline vertices at open end with standard track as supplied with asset.

At the buffer end there are no vertices to allow the addition of invisible track. However, until this thread encouraged a bit more experimentation, I was unaware that the Track marks can be placed beyond the buffers and into the station area with this asset. You can see my Trackmark 469 which I thought was the limit, but I’ve now placed 470 beyond the buffers.

I deleted 469 which allows an AI train to stop closer to the visible buffers built into the asset.

Hopefully Joe_T can do something similar with his terminus.

Have a look at the asset with PEVs' Trainz Mesh Viewer. It will show you just how
far the attached track extends beyond the buffer. It may go quit a ways but you
can't see it under the platform.

If it does'nt go far enough for you purposes, again PEV to the rescue.
You can consider using PEVs' Attachment Maker to add more track, in
this case invisible track, the the asset beyond the buffer.

It'd be a bit of a task, but possible.
