Trains half speed

Hi all.... Well I have constructed a route and tried a couple of trains to go round it for a test but I have give them commands and they go round it but whatever the speed limit is they will only go at about half the speed. can you help me please?.

For the most part your answer is correct. The issue we have is that if a signal is at yellow, it commands the approaching train to run at half speed... at a great distance! I have trains that when they "see" a yellow 5 or more KM's away, they slow down. So, you place an invisible signal (that should be green) ahead of the one with yellow, and the train sees a green and proceeds a rated speed. Yes? but not always. Things are not 100% clear as to why a train runs at half speed when a very distant signal is green just because the following one is yellow, and then when the train get's to about 600 mts, it speeds (because it is green ahead), to slow down again as it get's closer to the signals. I must be a bug: A yellow or red should be "visible" to the train when it is near perhaps taking into consideration the speed, as in the real World.

Thamkyou for your replies, I thought perhaps it could be a bug but I wanted to see what other people said. I have tried putting invisible signals in at your suggestion and have had some success ,but Iwill be monitoring the outcome with a beady eye and if I come across any mishaps due to the invisible signals I will report back. Thanks again.

Just an observation, which may not apply at all to your situation: Many of the locomotives available in Trainz or on the DLS have a maximum speed well below what you might be expecting. One such locomotive in a consist is enough to slow the entire train down to its maximum. This is not a bug, but a result of attempting to replicate the actual locomotive's specifications. There are two approaches you can take:

1) do what the prototype would do and assign appropriate locomotives to consists (for example, a long coal drag may not need motive power with a maximum speed over 25 mph), or

2) say the heck with it (which I do) and modify the enginespec of the affected locomotives (or all locomotives) to a maxspeed of 150 or whatever and rely on a combination of track speed limits and the "Set Max Speed To" command at the start of each schedule to an appropriate amount.

PS: I can start to hear the flames crackling already...

Hi, sorry to say but the command "Set Max Speed" is not working for me with TRS2019. Do you have a solution for that ?

Trains will also operate at half-speed if a junction is not set in their favor. This will trigger a string of yellows and yellow signals tell the AI to run at half the posted speed.

Thank you Ilebrez, You have confirmed one of my pet gripes. In the real world a train would only slow to half speed when it reaches the yellow signal, not two or three miles before. In Trainz the driver will slow to the correct speed when approaching a lower speed limit and will be doing the lower limit as he passes the sign, the same thing should apply to yellow signals.
