Train horn - cannot hear it as well if camera is near the engine

Hello. When I'm in roaming camera mode or trailing camera mode (outside the cab), the train horn can hardly be heard if the camera is positioned within 10 yards of the engine - it sounds almost muffled like you are IN the cab when you're not! However, when I move the camera away the horn is louder (the way it should be if I was really that close to the engine).

Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a fix for it?

I did a search on this for all forums and saw nothing mentioned in the subject lines. Thanks for any help!

So this has never happened to anyone?

From external view, when I zoom into the locomotive, the engine sound becomes so loud that the horn can barely be heard as if you are INSIDE the cab.

But when I zoom out the horn can now be heard quite plainly.

I've checked different locomotives and they do the same thing. I've messed with whateve I can on the sound settings and it doesn't fix it.

Any help appreciated!

Well, I haven't experienced this personally, but I did remember that the ill fated patch that was recently pulled did have some sound fixes in it...

Was that the 46957 to 47059 patch that was pulled?

I downloaded that but haven't run it yet - if that's the one that was "pulled" does that mean I should not run it?

Well I applied the patch and it didn't fix the problem.

If I'm zoomed all the way out from being focussed on train, the horn is the loudest. Every time I zoom IN one notch the horn grows dim as the engine grows louder. By time I'm within 10 scale feet of the train you can barely hear the horn as the engine is overbearing.

Devs? Any help please? This hasn't happened to anyoneelse?! It ruins any videos I try to make as it's completely unrealistic that the horn all but vanishes on a run-by near a track.

Just to add, the problem you have is nothing to do with any patches and can be sorted with a few minor tweaks. :wave:

i've had a simular problem. the horn on one side of the train you couldn't hear it but on the other side you could hear it. I figured it out the problem was a water fountan next to the tracks :hehe: i then moved it and there hasn't been any problems sence!
