Hello!

I found this information today tucked-away in a description in a YouTube video of the GLC's (Great Lake Central) "Polar Express" video.

Announcing the Train Festival 2009 in Owosso, MI USA from July 24-26, 2009! The site has a map of the location and lists the activities that will be ongoing throughout the Festival. Links for tickets to ride the "Polar Express" and all-day excursions are included. Schedules, a blog, and accomodations and shopping links are included as well.

I've recently started a topic thread on the GLC in the Prototype Talk forum. So if you'd like to check it out and if you live in the lower peninsula of Michigan and have any GLC photos. Please share! That'd be awesome.

Wow, what a fun event this was! I have some great photos to share, but in the meantime you can check out the fun with some great YouTube videos of the #4449 SP Daylight, #1225 PM Polar Express, #765 Nickel Plate Road, the GLC and HESR railroads were also present along with boxcars from the Wabash, Ann Arbor, and Pere Marquette railroads. Several caboose were also present, including from the Ann Arbor and Pere Marquette railroads again.

Quite a few model railroads from the rideable garden-sized variety down to N-scale were present. Also a rather impressive Lego display that took up half of one tent was pretty cool to see.

Train Festival 2009 runs through tomorrow in Owosso, MI. I have to say it was a great shot in the arm for the state of Michigan economically as they expected 30,000 people from all 50 states to be present as well as many from the international community. The place was absolutely packed yesterday when I went!

So look for some pictures from me in the near future. I'm beat tired now, as I went to historic Durand, MI and visited the Depot museum there. Was great to see the HESR and CN in action there today! Also I have some great pics to share of that.

If anyone else attended please feel free to share your photographs or links to video of Train Festival 2009 here.

YouTube video links of the PM 1225, Daylight 4449, and NPR 765 that ran daily from Owosso, MI to Alma, MI during the festival; run on GLC track. Yay!

And without further ado; here's some pictures I snapped at Train Festival 2009 in Owosso, MI on July 24, 2009...

Nickel Plate Road #765. It ran the daily excursion on July 25, 2009 where the Daylight was then parked in it's location. Sadly I was not there on Saturday to get any pictures of that:

Pere Marquette #1225 with a blown flue. It ran the daily excursion the first day of the Festival on July 23, 2009; I think...

Also present but not pictured was the Southern Pacific Lines "Daylight" #4449 and another 0-4-0 that I forgot to take a picture of.

:(

More pictures to come...
