Train Crashes!

Ha ha, had a great deliberately set up crash today! Had Odney Manor and a Hymek slam into each other head-on! Then I restarted and made Odney narrowly miss the Hymek, and crash into the pannier instead! I will post pics soon...

Ouch

Well it appears the braking systems on Phil_C's SD70's are underpowered

I was driving a 9f in industrial wasteland when i saw the sp tank train stopped infront of me, i slammed on the brake and barley missed the train. i went up front to figure out why the tank train stopped blocking the entire yard. stupid me had left a switcher in the way (oppps). I move it and the train started slowly on its way again/ i switch back to the 9f, and i see two sd70s and a fully loaded log train come ripping into view from the tunnel doing WAY more then the speed limit. i quickly switched to teh 70s and it registered 75 in a 40 zone. then it roared past the red signal and smashed ino the end of the trank train, derailing both :(

my 9f perched right on the crossing, just past the point of impact.

There was a slight 2.5% downhill grade on the other side of the tunnel, but i've never seen any engine do THAT before, especilly under AI control!

How did you get them to derail when they hit each other? Most of the time, even at 100 mph, they just couple on when hitting each other...

Scoot: Wow, how dare those trucks do that!!! Why'd they derail EDWARD?! Just wait! I'll show them! :hehe:
lol. i was pulling in to load some trucks and the they pulled him off the tracks. Gordon came to help and was shocked. he wanted to help but he didn't have the crane.

Set derailment realism higher. Happens all the time to me.

I have 2

For the first one two CN GP9s could not slow down enough to take one of the tighter turns on the NS mainline and derailed. This pic was taken just before the front engine slid into the nearby river.

The second accident happened at the Palmerton Mine. 2 CSX SD35s, an ex-Soo GP30, and an ex-Conrail GP40 were running at 70 (the speedlimit on the CPR main) when they hit a switch at the Mine cross over that had been left towards the oncomming track. The engineer hit the emergency brakes but it was too late. The train hit the closed switch when it got off of the crossover and derailed. The jolt derailed the train much further back. The damages included destroyed cars in the auto carriers, fixing the track, damage to the train cars and damage to the coal loader, not to mention the damage caused by having the main closed for 2 days while it was fixed.

Here we see the train just after hitting the closed switch, just before the wheel caught and drove the train from the tracks.

Here we see the gondolas a few seconds after leaving the track. If you look in the backround you can see the auto carrier that was rolled over the mines loading ramp. Somehow the mines Bethgons were not damaged in the crash.

Here are two shots taken when the emergency crews arrived. You can see that the Auto carrier has settled on its side and in the second shot you can see what the sudden jolt did to the rear of the train.

In these final two shots you can see the post wreck shots of the locos. Luckily there were no fatalities. The light in the first light is the headlight from the wreck train.

BTW this was not staged. I was taking pics for another thread when this happened. lol

Longest list of smilies?! BAHAHA!:hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe:

And why make such big letters?? :hehe: We could do without the yelling:p

you know. it wasnt that hard for me to beat that and get 35 crashes in 30 mins. And hey i dont have to shout.

yesterday, i attempted to break your record, and i hit 37! :D :D

and one really bad one.

it was an a session i made mahself, and ah was drivin' along.

the engine was an SD40-2

all the sudden, this stupid AI driver comes out of nowhere, and hits my train. and the result:

KABOOM!

soon after, an F7 came along to take all that were alive.

Screw you AI drivers!
