Can't even remember when I started with Trainz, latest was TSR12, after all the publicity for TANE thought it was the next release, bought it, but can't get it working, not backwards compatible with TSR, waste of money! Now one newsletter after the other about TMR17? You have lost me! Which is the latest Trainz release allowing me to create my own track layouts, loco's, etc, compatible with TSR12?
:'(

TM17 is a spin-off product based on T:ANE with a major focus on model railroads. Like T:ANE and even TS12 you'll be able to build your own routes and do everything as before.

As far as compatibility goes, most assets from previous versions work in T:ANE. There are some, however, which will need repairs and there is a group of dedicated individuals, known as the Content Repair Group or CRG, that is currently updating faulty content on the DLS to ensure we can use that content as well. This issue is not unusual since T:ANE is actually a new program altogether with a completely new game engine which is totally different than anything previous.

If you have trouble with content repairs, start a new thread with that subject and we can help you. Most of the repairs are easy, however, and once you fix one, you can repair a bunch of assets that have the same error very quickly.

However, backward compatibility is not guaranteed, especially if a new feature or function is used that didn't exist in TS12. This is nothing new, it is the case whenever a new version is introduced.

What happens when you try to launch Tane? What messages do you get?

Does your machine meet the requirement for running Tane? (tell us your machine specs)

People can help you when they know what's happening, most things are easily sorted.
