Totally cheesed off with Trainz

I disagree with that statement. The N3V Trainz Discord server does have a CoC and is moderated closely. I spend much of my day doing exactly that. There is a language bot that catches most swearing and occasionally we get a spammer but that is soon dealt with. There are other Trainz related servers and I won't speak for them.

As for the image hosting service, I've mostly given up. I did use Imgur for a while until it descended into a collection of cute cat/dog videos, poor taste cartoons, and sleaze.
That is far from the experience I have had on the N3V server, or any of the others for that matter

My personal preference would be for N3V to fix the Trainz Gallery. I will look at a couple of the external image hosting services to see if they are suitable for me. Suitable, means no ads, no spam, no clickbait and no donation requests. One that I looked at gave a very basic free service, but required payment to do anything more than the basics.
It seems the older people tend to use the forums and the young'uns use Discord. The forums feel like a ghost town compared to what they were 10 years ago when I joined.

deleted.

I stopped using Trainz Gallery years ago. The built-in screenshot/upload system makes for terrible quality shots and I recommend imgur or postimages instead. No more blurry pics.

Don't forget that the search function is broken again. And that after being fixed months ago.

I've stepped away more or less myself. Not due to the inability to post images. I find that stuttering is worse in SP6 than any other versions of Trainz I've used before. The precaching and low FPS reminds me of TS12 SP1 HF4 back in 2014 when the Trainzdaemon would kick in and verify assets for 15 hours.

Although not for everyone, if you happen to have a personal website, you would also have a place to host your own images. Back in the day when I first got involved with email, etc., my ISP also offered a basic web service - a home page with a modest amount of disk space to store files.

Don't know why you bother with the gallery, who actually goes there and looks at the screenshots .
As to getting pleasure from trains, I do this by making my own buildings and Routes. That will never be uploaded.

Please refer post #9.

I am glad Graeme uploads and shares routes. His routes are the best. What you do in private is your business I guess.

A lot of the older crew came to rely on the Trainz Gallery after Hostthenpost went down. N3V even touted it as a replacement for Hostthenpost, as it was devastating to some people that all their years of screenshot posts had disappeared overnight.
It's not actually for going and looking at screenshots, it's that it belongs to N3V and was free hosting for screenshots posted to the forums. The idea was that as long as N3V was around, our screenshots would be also.

Just taken and uploaded while working on my current project. It all seems a bit hit and miss.

I have been on the Internet from the beginning of the Internet when the Internet became available in the early 1990s. What I have noticed Online and in Society in general is that most people seem to acclimate to the prevailing culture. It has been my experience, granted, limited experience, and limited due to how others communicate on Discord, but generally, Discord has been where the least public civility and platform responsibility seems to be observed. For these two reasons, I rarely waste my time on Discord.

It would seem that with the number of "professional" entities that use Discord for their Forum activities rather than creating and taking responsibility for such endeavors themselves, that there would be more pressure on Discord to "police" itself, but that does not seem to be the situation.

But then, I was raised in an era when civility and cordiality actually meant something. Listen to conversations and read common written communication styles in the 21st Century and one might wonder if there are such standards at all these days.

Not to mention spelling (in an actual and recognized and traditional Language), grammar, paragraphs, sentence structure (run-on sentences are a pet-peeve), punctuation, and capitalization. Yes, I have OCD, as well as other maladies. Life and three-quarters of a century take their toll.

It is beyond sad reading about those up to half my age and more not getting a chance to enjoy a full and productive life.

Life is beautiful. Life is precious. Life is a gift.

Happy New Year. Cherish every moment.
