TOPSIG iPortaling

You should have 2 Iportals. One Outbound Trains and one for Inbound trains to prevent conflicts.

Defitinitely. This is how I have my personal route set up. I also have several back-up portals just in case another fails. In previous testing, it seemed that five trains could be recieved from one portal flawlessly. After that, trains that were sent would not always get recieved even though each person had all the dependencies.

trainsim,welcome.
You can use any route you want just add a iportal.
Make sure it has a driveway long enought to handle a 60 to 70 car train before your first Switch or signal.
The name of the Iportal dose not matter(any name you want) but the iportal ID dose.Make it short.(3 letters or so)Your out iportal should be set to what every Jib228 give you.(that will be the iportal to send trains to the MRL route from your route)
You will need to send GN1996 a PM with your e-mail so you can get and enter your information on what you can consume and produce And what cars, locos, caboose you use.To help ID you from others we all have difference railroads.ATSF,CSX,BN,BNSF roads have been clamed. While you are getting your route ready you can join the session that running now.
You should DL the Session it will find the right route for that sessoin.<kuid2:344263:100148:3>
Hope you enjoy running with us.

Well I finally got my coal train to MRL1 but I have "insufficient permissions" to assign it to myself :( It is sitting west of MRL1 if someone wants and can move it.

Thats because when a train shows up via portal, it is considered the host's train. You cant unassign a train from another user unless your set as officer or are the host. So what I have to do is unassign the train my self. The problem is, if a train is sent and I am not available to do that. As was the case with your train Ken. But it is no available for any one to take as I have unassigned the engineer.

Thanks, I had a feeling there was something that had to be done. If my train is still there when I get home from work i'll move it.

This weekend looks to be a fun time.

I have taken the Coal train to Billings to service Montana & Light Power station. Incidently Jib I have experienced a lot of problems with the Interactive Industries. They will not work for me. Billings Int won,t load containers but it just worked for Danny. I,m testing 2 proto-Lars Industries to see if they will work in a solo session. Danny said that a number of Industries were not set up and wouldn,t work for him but I need to check them out. Actually I should have posted my comments on the industries in the MRL thread. I will just add to my earlier remarks that Loomex Mills consumes Woodchips at a fairly quick rate but not too quickly as to feel unrealistic. I,ve lost the name of the industry near Loomex Mills that produces Scrap and I can report that it does load scrap but at a very slow rate which will take hours to load the cars. It just needs to "Up the Tempo" so to speak. One of the Cars in the train MUST be correctly positioned, with the center of the car over the actual Industry Track otherwise there is a chance it will not work. Quite why I could not use any of the Industries in the session, except Montana Power & Light is not entirely clear. It may well be a combination of Industries not set up correctly, Cars incorrectly positioned and Multiplayer.

All right, so here's the deal. I have been having on and off issues with my home network since I got this god forsaken gateway from Comcast. For those who dont know what a gateway is, its a wireless router and cable modem in one. The good thing about it, one device, one plug in the wall. And that's bout it, other then that the thing sucks. One of the problems I have had for the longest time is that my XBox would not connect wirelessly. It gave me an error saying my network password was wrong, even though it was right. My brother and his friend where able to connect theirs wirelessly no problems. So this meant that I had to have my XBox wired to it. No big deal, I put the gateway in my room and wired in my PC and my XBox. But now my server PC is in the living room, about 40 feet away from my gateway.

"Well, that PC can connect no problem right?"

Yes and no. You see, every so often, the gateway stops accepting wireless connections. You can see the network on your computer, but you cant connect to it. Now this means that every so often then wireless goes out and every thing loses internet. No go if I'm trying to host a session. But any thing wired in maintains its connection unaffected.

Now over the evening I believe I may have fixed these issues. I wont know for sure until I can restart the gateway and test more. But I dont want to do that while hosting a session. I dont want any more network interruptions on it. I feel really bad every time I see that the net went down and the session discoed. The nice thing is, I dont have to restart the session, just merely put it back up by clicking host session. Then we all rejoin and go from where we left off.

In other news, I take back what I said about staying home this weekend. Turns out I still have some trees to trim up north, so I will be going up there this weekend.

"What dose all this have to do with sessions?"

Well, I just want to let you all know whats going on behind the session, on my end. My plan is this:
1. Shut down the current sever some time tomorrow morning
2. Move gateway and about 30 feet of coaxial cable to the living room. (If I can find said cable)
3. Hard wire the server computer to the network

After doing that, if I get it all done before 2PM Eastern time, then Ill have the server up and running for the weekend. If not, Ill post here saying no server. But we run into another hick-up. If I'm gone for 3 days, there will be no one to monitor trains that come in from iPortals. This means, if you send a train to MRL, it will be stopped just out side the portal until Sunday night when I come home.

Regardless of if I have the server up or not though, I will have a server up from Monday till when even starting on April 8th. I am also starting to take notes on things that need to be added or removed or changed for a session only update. Im thinking of removing all rolling stock and placing down just the consist I sent to every one. I have noticed some cars that are not needed at all in the session, as well as a few things that need adding.

Thats all I really have to say at the moment.

I have 2 things to say, one is since MRL will not be operating tomorrow night, I will be hosting an open session on Mojave just for fun in the evening. Also, I will be gone on a trip this next upcoming weekend and will not be able to join/iPortal MRL if the session is back up.

Cool I might be on your Mojave session if I have the route. Otherwise tomorrow evening me and my brother might have a MRL session going.

Cool, I may join you guys and we can exchange p-trains :) You will have to let us know what the iPortal IDs are (no offense Jib I was looking forward to running but can understand the life things). In the furture I probably can host op-sessions but I need to find out what is required. I have hard wired FioS so there is no network issues :)

Server is up, and will be up for the weekend. Just remember, I am not home. So if you send a train to MRL, it will be locked until I get home Sunday.

Sorry about my unexpected leaving, while train was under power in Billings Yard. Trainz showed 2 script errors, fps slowed, and again froze leading me to restart my computer. Instead of letting me back in, Trainz ran through the file check process. Again, sorry if that caused a run away or derailment. And the funny part is that I have been on MRL TOPSIG for about 7 hours straight and never once needed 2 or more drivers/trains or needed to set my train to AI for any reason. Stuff still got done without it. Imagine that, hmm...
P.S. I serviced both power plants.

We have a spread sheet for the commoditie info, ask GN1996 I believe for access.

As Ken has stated, I am the one to send information to to become a moderator for the spreadsheet. To become a moderator, send me an address for a Google account. If it is not a Google account, it won't work for moderator approval. Colourlight has also stated that the link for the spreadsheet is on page 6. It can also be found on page 1 at the bottom of Jib's first post. As for rolling stock and locomotives, you need to PM Jib first about that before they actually get added to the list.

ok thanks. GN1996 is there any way you could make some SD 40-2's in NS? Because the BN ones are nice. oh and i also have a passenger station now. The only thing built at this point is the train yard, station, and coal mine. GN i'll get the locomotives too you very soon.

ok good news ive finished the track work and signaling and have all the industries working. Although ive changed some industries out for other industries. I no long accept wood chips nor to i produce goods. I do produce pipe load 1 for bulkhead flatcar DES (product), Concrete Culvert load for Bulkhead Flatcar DES (Product), and Concrete Block Load for bulkhead Flatcar DES (product).
