TOPSIG iPortaling

cause my TS12 is so laggy.

Have you tried restarting your router? Or the rest of your home network?

Or do you mean to say that you get low frame rates and that your game stutters a lot?

It kinda irks me when some one uses the term lag to refer to low FPS. Lag is a networking term, it means you have a high latency and your computer is lagging behind every one else. But if you mean to say that your game runs slow and take a while to load, then your computer is just slow. (Or in my case Im too fast some times.)

Low FPSlag

Any who, moving on in life and other things. Some one should test to see if iPortaling works with Mac TRS and PC TRS with Boyerm. Id do it, but will be busy with MRL and other things the next few days.

I can do passenger as well I would love to trade passenger rail as well

Great... I look forward to exchanging some varnish. I see that you would be sending me UP, I will be PRR. Now to look see if the TS12 likes the E8's and Pennsy cars. To bad I could not use the Fleet of Modernism T1 though :)

Oddly enough you could. N3V payware dose count as on the DLS for MP sessions. The only downside, and reason we cant use it, is that we would all have to buy it. I know many here don't have the income to buy DLC. So I have to say we cant use them.

MRL dose have a few passenger stations, and two passenger trains on it. So you might get them, or what ever you guys send to us.

Could I just mention one thing to bear in mind when deciding which commodities to use. There is an ongoing MP problem where clients are unable to load certain commodities. For example there are several Commodities in UMR SUMMER REVISITED that I cannot load as a client. Ikea pallets and Canned Tomatoes spring to mind. I have narrowed the cause down to the rail Vehicle not the Industry. I found a eastern European open wagon that will load all commodities in game using the "select commodity" option. However in practice the benefits are limited. Any commodity that does not have a picture such as anything on pallets will not load . Cement and Scrap work ok. None of the Grain products will load. There are a number of commodities that are built into the wagon that work of course. The other stumbling block is that the maximum amount of items is very low, 4 at best.

Actually i think it was hert who produced some flat wagons that where designed to load only one product. These wagons ran without fault and may be a solution to some products that will not load for the clients, They where CSX flats wagons but he maybe able to make other types for those products that have problems with loading in MP sessions.
Only a thought but when i am on say UMR sugar will not load unless you are the host and that is only one of many that people seem to have problems with.

I've used them cars and they are high in poly and will give a bad frame rate.
I asked him to do them for my USA Prototype route with no land scapping just track and some stations.

I had some trouble with high poly items in TS2010 but have since reinstalled TS12 and added an SSD HD which so far make route editing much faster. I did run one short TS2010 session and it was much better.

JIb228,

I have some thoughs about passenger/express traffic. If you have a decent size city on MRL we could run our trains there, uncouple the power.

Now say I come in with BE/BE/PB/PB/DA/PS/PS/PO the train can be split up. Take 1 BE and 1 PS to be added to Jamesfaa train and do the same for his. So when done I return with one of his BE and PS and he returns with one BE and PS of mine. This could be done for anyone who wants to participate. Your city would need a place to store reserver passenger power and the cars. Would be cool for a switching crew to do the work while the road crew goes to service the engines.

Just some thoughts.

While I like that idea Ken, MRL doesn't have any passenger terminals. In fact, the real MRL does not see any passenger service what so ever, from what I gather.

The only reason I have passenger trains on MRL is to satisfy a few other people who liked to run passenger trains. And for a little more operational interest. I have 2 passenger trains that run on MRL, 100A-100B and 101A-101B. 100A/100B is the big one that starts out in West End. It makes stops in Helena, Livingston, and Laurel. It starts out as 100A until reaching Laurel, then it reverses stopping at Livingston then Helena as 100B. Each time it changes from east bound to west bound it changes from A to B. (A is East bound B is West bound) 101B is a small commuter that works the same as 100A/B, but 101B starts in Huntley and stops at every depot till Helena, then it too reverses back to Huntley as 101A.

Now I think Bozeman is large enough that some passenger train switching could be done there. But I dont think there is enough room to hold locomotives and rolling stock.

If any thing, you guys could have your own terminals on your routes. The each of you send a train from your route to MRL. Run the passenger train to Bozeman. There you drop off your cars on one track and pick up the other users cars. This means rather then send your train 100% of MRL, it only has to go half way across the route. Locomotives come back to you, and cars with passengers roll on.

Well I guess this needs to be though out more... it may be that if anyone wants to do passenger traffice should just iPortal directly then.

I do happen to have the PRR T1 as I love steam. And look forward to the passanger traffic, when I get my coaches together I will let yoou know which they are.

Same here I would do all steam if we could...

Sweet so you and I could exchange the fleet of modernism :) Also I did fined some usable Pass equipment, they are not the era I would have liked but they work!

Well it would create more traffic on the MRL instead of direct. This would sure help Jib's ratio of players per mile as he said in the last discussion thread. The more traffic, the more real and fun it gets.
Keep up the good ideas everyone!

I have created a chat channel in Trainz called "topsig" that we can use for MP sessions. I created the channel because the people that are in their SP route and do not have Teamspeak need to have a way to communicate with the people in the MP session. Players can use the channel to warn of incoming iPortal trains or to ask permission to enter them first. I would also like to elect that we use this particular channel for any TOPSIG session utilizing iPortals. We may also use them as a "promotional" channel to people who are interested in the sessions, but aren't willing to download it to see what it is about. That particular group could be invited to join the channel during a session and they could "see" the interactions between MP session players. This of course is not nearly as good as physically seeing the session in motion, but it might be what it takes to get more people interested.

In regards to passenger traffic on MRL, there is none. The closest that Amtrak's Empire Builder, gets to MRL is not even in Montana. I don't think there is long distance service or even shortline railroads. The closest that Amtrak does get to MRL is in Sandpoint, ID. That happens to be the west end of MRL's trackage. Do not argue with me about MRL passenger service, I'm from Montana.:hehe: But in all seriousness, feel free to prove me wrong in the form of a link to a website or other pertinent information.
There are twelve train stations for Amtrak in Montana.

From West to East
1) Libby
2) Whitefish
3) West Glacier (Belton)
4) Essex
5) East Glacier
6) Browning
7) Cut Bank
8) Shelby
9) Havre
10) Malta
11) Glasgow
12) Wolf Point
