Tips and Tricks-Surveyor

Just sharing this:

I use the steam effects to disguise portals within tunnels. This way, even when looking down you can't see the trains appearing and disappearing. A little unprototypical perhaps, but it adds a nice air to it. Perhaps if someone did a black smoke version this would look better.

Hi BidMod,

I like the effect that you are creating and I also think it would look better with black/dark smoke.

by the way what is the guid of the track that you are using in the screenshot as it looks rather neat.

Its some S49 profile rail, a type used in West and East Germany, type in sg1 as a username on the DLS and you will find it, if you want anything else German just PM me.

You been useing my idears have you? :D

As far as I know there are no "traditional style" Timbered Level Crossings available on the DLS.However, I"ve worked out this little trick to sort the problem. What you need is "Board Walk" (spline) KUID 68236:23060 and GWR Level Crossing 2 Track or something similar.Install the LC as normal then lay one of the Board Walks on top till it just clears the concrete surface,Then click "Get Height" and "Use Height" so that the other end of the BWis the same height. Its fiddly, but if you do it carefully the rails will be visible through the BW.You"ll need need 3 BWs to cover the crossing ,all set to the same height.

Good idea. This is something that should be used more often. Combine two or more objects to create a greater visual variety without increasing the object count too much.

Dave, I thought size didn"t matter? I used to use the Crossing boards as you"ve used but their disadvantages are 1) You need 5 or 10 per Crossing and all heights have to be adjusted. 2) They react to the ground underneath because they are "solid" objects. With my method you only need 3 Splines and because the LC is Levelthe splines are always the same height each end so no fiddling. And they don"t move if the ground moves...

Is it possible to build more into a senario that the Auran program can handle? I can not keep my session open more that 10 minutes any more now that I start to develope my city.

late post reply for post#107 jack

when in surveyor dont replace track s from a scenario mode especially with rolling stock on them.......

But quick easy way to get your engine from heaven out of the way is to
upper left corner tab "remove missing dependancies " then save this will
remove your ghost engine... ( did that myself 1 time and that worked for me) So you dont have to scrap your project.....

Dave =)

Yes it is possible to build more into a senario that the Auran program can handle - every set up has its limits. What happens at the end of 10 minutes?

American_Connections, this thread is for posting tips, not asking questions, isn't that why you created the T&T-Questions thread ?

Anyway, my tip. If you are doing a country route, don't use the same hedge spline ! Mix it up with others, or different types of fencing.

Or add little scenic "extras" like a bit of trouble down the local pub:o , or maintenance work thats temporarily shutdown some tracks

Thanks,
Gangsta_Boi

The hedges were to do with MY TIP, of which i have seen on from you, except on earlier pages.

Please start a new thread, or PM the author of the Adapter

Tip #2: use "town blocks" (an example can be found by shoves) for covering largeish areas of housing shops etc. A quick and low poly way to make towns :)

Thanks,
