Time to make people sad.

I live near a place with a scene like that. Its a electric commuter train with the back end in mint condition and the front flat as a pancake.

Here in the UK it's always sad to see great engines being destroyed...

and being replaced by the new ugly class 70...

And it's the same, no matter where you come from, your once great engines, that transported a nation are being replaced by an engine, that looks like its been in a train wreck...

And those wavy lines do it no justice

Yeah, if it was a REAL (steam) loco, I'd be sad, but it was just a generator on wheels

I'm an 80's child and I grew up with the Class 85 Electric, I placed in the picture, I always wanted one for my model railway, but they were always very expensive, I saved and saved and saved and eventually, I had enough money, I went down to the shop and found the price had gone up even more, I gave up in the end and never managed to get one, until now off the DLS for my trainz program, it's not like having the real thing, but it's close enough for me, thankyou to whoever made it, it is brilliant, and what I was always after.

I wasn't fortunate enough to ever witness steam in action, lucky enough we have a wonderful city here in the UK called York, and they have a fantastic railway museum, and sometimes through the summer they have steam specials running, it's only one train, but it's the closest I'll ever get to steam. I did however have the Flying Scotsman as a model, I loved that engine, still got it now and it takes pride of place alongside my fabulous BR Blue Deltic. Happy memories:)

Very cool.. nice to see some vetrans saved from becoming razorblades. CSX or the T has no pride nore cares about history. They will hack neglect till something either falls apart or derails....:(

Amtrak and NJT once during the 1980's was VERY dumb. They both scaped GG1's. Only 16 are around.
The two GG-1s I saw in person are:
4877 near the Raritan Valley Line
4879 near the Boonton Line
