Time of the month for TS12 SP1

Dreaded Reactor Meltdown
I see it has got to that time of the month again, when TS12 SP1 starts Validating all over the place, I do hope it's not going to be an heavy period this time.

Dam it!.... 522 content up dates and all my DLC is reloading it's self back on to my desktop Why oh Why oh Why.... all Eight of them.

Either I'm out of the loop, or I'm just not exactly seeing the point of this post.

It's the monthly n3v check making sure you've not got any payware your not supposed to have and everything is registered to you.
You must have seen the "say no to DLC" slogans under folks sigs.

I'm as nonplussed as Wolf up there ^^^, not seen any of this, only 1 content update this morning & just the
normal "validating your user name with Planet Auran" when starting CM.

I haven't seen much effect from TS12 SP1 this morning myself (I haven't even seen a revalidation), although the only payware DLC I've got is one that's not using the DRM method (the Contz pack).

EDIT: j_maybury - by any chance have you got the Murchinson pack installed?

Well, here's something new I've only just noticed, in my TS12 non SP1, I have oodles of maps from around Europe and North America, both DLS and 3rd party installations, every scenery asset that has recently been updated from say build 3.3/3.6 to 3.7 has suddenly made some of my maps have missing assets in my CMP, content from the DLS naturally, but, as I have no inclination whatsoever of patching my TS12 upwards ( I'm a beligerent devil as you all know ), will these maps now remain in this state, or, do I have to go into every one of them and amend the kuid numbers from let's say 2:12345:67890:3 back to 2:12345:67890:2, for example ?

My installs are all off line. TS12 was my first version of trainz and I had no problems with it. Maybe I have not been at it long enough to find all the problems. I have one patched install, but never use it. Through the kickstarted thing I guess I will be getting a boxed version of the new one, already received a year first class ticket. I have a feeling I may just stick with good old TS12 unpatched and off line.

Cheers....Rick

I had a similar problem but the other way round, updated kuid :1 versions were not being seen/found/recognised by the asset so I had to alter the config to show kuid :1 and all was ok.
I've only done 1 EDR and won't be doing another unless forced.

It's a funny 'ole game, aint it. :hehe:

Now, what I've done is to delete ALL of the assets with build number 3.7, this then negates any obsoletions, I can't amend the configs in any routes anyway as the assets are the same kuid number that the creator originally used, so, I'm deleting like mad to get things back to how they used to be, what a palaver......

No problems here... I too usually get the oodles of validation requests, but nothing today. Maybe my install has finally settled down to something more normal for a change.

"It's a funny 'ole game, aint it."
A pain in the nether region more like.
Even built in assets are affected and you know what happens when you open 1 of them for edit, good job I don't use them or I would be most peeved (it begins with p anyway) but there are children present.

Well I spoke too soon yesterday. I got my oodles up validation requests while in the middle of editing a massive DEM route. I had to wait for this constant database hit to end because I couldn't click on a menu in Surveyor without getting a white screen. I probably wouldn't be so annoyed at this if a message was posted while this process was happening - something like "Trainz install being validated, performance may be impacted during this process, please wait..." along with a progress bar to show how much has to be done. But to be in the middle of something and have this happen is quite annoying and yes. I'm being G-rated too. I can only imagine what it would be like for someone in the middle of driver and having this kick in.

Hi all,

I had my Trainzzzzzzz  validation update last weekend and it's only today that at last it's settled down. Perhaps it's to do with the final patch (SP5) for TS12?

Regards.

I keep getting 19,000 plus items that need to be validated every few days , Even on a machine with a 6 core processor that takes well over 7 hours !! As a benchmark I did a quick database repair and with all the content that I have that only took 4 hours !!
All the other versions of Trainz have never had to do this , This aint progress this is going backwards !!
At one stage I thought it may of been the amount of content that I was altering , saving , installing but I had 1 week where I did barely anything with the sim and guess what a few days later another 19,000 to validate !!

Whoever programmed this needs to hang their head in shame !!!!!!!

Perhaps N3V need to make use of a suggestion (I believe it was either Will or Frank that made it) and use a relational database system.

Shane

P.S. Nice to see you on this section on the forum nexusdj - I don't see much of you on here nowadays.

Hi all, it's reassuring that it is not just me that seems to be suffering this fate, I was beginning to think It was all in my imagination.
Why is N3V doing this to us, Please, if your reading this N3V, take another look at how you implement the DRM process, and change this disaster to something less intrusive.
As John said it will screw up my TS12 instalments if I try to do anything on the keyboard when it decides to run. the game is often unplayable for weeks at a time, in fact I have stopped using trainz as a consequence .
Your now looking at a virtual Farmer, but I think I will soon get board with it, after I have worked out how to do everything.

@Shane, Yes Shane, I do have Murchinson2, and I think I know what your getting at, Yes it does have two errors every time it loads so does SnC.
I did find that, if I loaded them separately by deleting the second instalment, then letting it load the next time I went on line, it would install correctly.
But I hoped that N3V would have fixed this by now. No such luck.:(

G'day, I am sorry for you all but I to suffer from DRM check problems and it always affects DLC products already installed and paid for, the other day I started trainz on my PC and it started it's checking, once finished I went into a session I had previously run several times and it was missing two consists (PRR T1 A Fleet of Modernism and The Blue Comet) were missing in the session, the drivers were there with blanks where the loco should be. I closed down and then restarted and went into CM, all of the DLC were there but were missing from the session completely (session did not show missing assets. I went in and edit session re placed the consists and reassigned the drivers and all back to normal.
This has also happened to routes as well but is not as easily noticeable until you are in the route and you see things missing, the fix here is to delete the route and reinstall it as trainz seems to just delete them from the kuid table. this only happens after on of the prolonged checks and only affects DLC content in SP1 + trainc. This DRM has really not been implemented well and just think that these are the same people working on T2 so if history repeats itself we could be in for a really bumpy ride.
Regards
Barrie

All of these posts are making me thankful I don't buy DRM content. (Or even update my trainz from the boxed version, it runs 100% okay for me)
